  1. I’m a tad older then the Fitz, but just a tad. I grew up a mariner off the CT coast, but Fitz was well known to me. Today, I live in CO, but the Fitz (and others) still haunts me. Should I ever return to a shoreline and be asked what I thought, my answer would be, “Those with a passion for the seas are fools. They feel called by her rhythms and expanse, but ’tis a siren’s call; only death awaits. Take it from an old fool.”

  2. My son was a Submariner and that song affects him.

    Never took the Sub into Lake Superior (that I know of) so it must be a “Brotherhood of the Sea” kind of thing.

    I’ve been on a couple of cruises and read some Conrad; but it’s not the same thing.
