The Daily Signal
Today—the 17th of June 2025—marks the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill.
The battle started when Colonel William Prescott led 1,200 men onto the Charlestown peninsula in Massachusetts to erect defenses on Bunker Hill in defense against British plans to capture undefended high ground at Dorchester Heights and Charlestown.
The British hoped that by capturing Bunker Hill, they would be able to gain a better location to fire at Americans who were sieging Charlestown. Prescott beat the British to their plans, though. He ended up building the defenses on Breed’s Hill instead, as it was lower and closer to the harbor. More
We have a bunch of 250th anniversary’s coming up in the next few years. I’ll do my best to drink a toast to each and every one of them!
In case any of you missed the parade, it was awesome. The crowd was awesome, the parade was a rolling history lesson. A great celebration. And the very next day that sniveling little bitch Rand Paul announces he disagrees with showing off our weapons. What? He clearly didn’t watch it. Rand’s planning on running in 2028. If Trump say white, Rand says black. He’s trying to garner his own little fan base. It ain’t happening and he’s being counter productive to the Trump agenda.
Also, the legacy media never covered it except for FOX.
Next year’s Sesquicentennial of 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was declared on July 4, 1776, will be bigger than the Bicentennial was 50 years ago. And thank God that Trump is President because if kammy were president we might not have survived 250 years as a free and independent nation. The left would find a way to have destroyed our independence as they hate our American founding.
I looked for the bicentennial minute from 50 years ago for this date. They’ve kept a few on YouTube but just because of the famous people who appeared that day, so they didn’t have today’s.
I remember those short snippets of revolutionary America history like it was only yesterday. I wish CBS would bring them back. It would be sort of a double shot of history to watch them today.
@geoff — I’m glad I’ve lived long enough to see the 250 next year. It should be a real humdinger with President Trump officiating!
BTW, that will be the semiquincentennial. Sesquicentennial is 150.
BRAD, I USED TO THINK RAND PAUL WAS SMART, BUT HE HAS PROVEN ME WRONG ONCE AGAIN
ARROGANCE INTERFERES WITH INTELLIGENCE
I was there last year. I went up to Boston to see the Braves play the Sox and the Savannah Bananas play at Fenway. Good times. We hit Bunker hill and the tea party ship among some of the other interesting locations.
I live 40 minutes from the Bananas home field. I will see them for the second time July 5th at Fenway. I have been on the ticket waiting list for 6 years.
Benito
Me too. There’s a couple of our favs that have gone bat shit crazy. Like Massy. WTF is up with that guy?
Uncle Al, you’re right it is semiquincentennial, thanks for clearing that up.
The United States of America is the greatest nation on Earth. The standard of freedom and liberty for the whole world. Overjoyed and grateful my family is part of the history of this awesome, God ordained country from the beginning.
BTW, Here’s a decent report about the US Army’s history by libtard media CBS;

Surprised it was actually informative.
This summary of the Battle of Bunker Hill is concise and informative, highlighting Prescott’s leadership and the strategic importance of the Charlestown peninsula. Thank you for providing this clear explanation of the battle’s initial objectives. For a more comprehensive understanding, consider adding details about the miscommunication leading to the battle being fought on Breed’s Hill and mentioning the battle’s eventual outcome.
