Dems Newest Attack on Liberty, HR1 – Seizing States’ Control of Elections

DMF: While the news has been dominated by the Government shutdown and Border Wall arguments, not much attention has been payed to the Democrats top legislative priority. It isn’t health care, immigration, or taxes.  No, their first attempt to seize more power and newest scheme to further erode liberty is to centralize power over elections in Washington, D.C.  H.R. 1 is number one on the legislative agenda because democrats proved to themselves they couldn’t even win a rigged election, making HR1 the priority of House Democrats, leftist groups, deep-pocketed dark money and those who use, by hook or crook, the election process rules to help win elections, or at least to cause chaos and throw it to the courts.

PJM – The bill is a 571-page dreamscape of wild wishes and federal mandates on states. The Constitution decentralizes power over American elections and puts states in charge. H.R. 1 would undo that. Decentralization promotes individual liberty. When power over elections is centralized, it is easier for that power to be abused. When power over elections is decentralized, no single malevolent actor can exert improper control over the process. That is precisely why Democrats are so eager for Washington, D.C., to have more power over our elections.

Here’s a few of the details of HR1:

  • H.R. 1 has 218 cosponsors. It forces states to implement mandatory voter registration. If someone is on a government list — such as receiving welfare benefits or rental subsidies — then they would be automatically registered to vote. Few states have enacted these systems because Americans still view civic participation as a voluntary choice.
  • H.R. 1 also mandates that states allow all felons to vote. Currently, states have the power under the Constitution to set the terms of eligibility in each state.
  • H.R. 1 would force states to have extended periods of early voting, and mandates that early voting sites be near bus or subway routes.

  1. The first of the obvious Communist/Socialist take over. I’ve been following this and it’s scarier than hell. I actually think these assholes are trying to time this with Fienstien’s gun grab. Which 3 Republicans are voting for,

  2. Doesn’t something like this need a constitutional amendment via a constitutional convention? If that’s the case maybe there’s some merit in laying down some common rules for Federal Elections. Such as photo id, voter registration card, additional identification, a limit to advance voting, regular registration list cleaning, no vote harvesting (or whatever it’s called) that gave Orange County to the Dems etc. A constitutional amendment is a high bar to clear so I don’t think the Dems or other progressives could create self-serving legislation. In any event it may be worth a conversation.

  3. The communist moron that lost the governor’s race in GA (Stacy Abrams) a couple of months ago thinks that criminal invaders (illegals) should be able to vote in “local” elections as well as 16 year old kids.

She is basically stating that she lost because she didn’t have enough illegals voting for her in GA – that might change soon the way things are looking.

GA spends 2.5 Billion on illegals every year according to this map (about half the cost of “the wall” in just GA, and I suspect this map waaaaaay underestimates spending on illegals in my state):

We have to nip this shit in the bud ….. right now or America will no longer exist!

  4. Interesting how voting was once a civic responsibility and you worked to educate yourself on issues and candidates. Today, it is supposed to be a mindless exercise for “more government and more bennies,” as instructed by your handlers.

Worse, as Stalin put it, “It’s not the people who vote that count; it’s the people who count the votes….” ….Lady in Red

  5. Look, you fart bubble biters, there is one government. Columbia. Some of your grandpappies disagreed. If you want a do over, I’m sure some of your grandchildren will be happy to oblige. (Lookin’ at you, grey wizard.) The Party decrees what The Party allows. From sea to shining sea. Same as it ever was. For this passing of America.

I hate to interrupt anyone’s turgid dreams, because… eww. But Cindy Crawford’s old. She still doesn’t love you. And there is no American Constitution. You have all agreed that “The Constitution” says whatever “your” pharisees say it says. Regardless of graffiti on an old scrap of paper. And what those pharisees say is, according to those pharisees, subject to change without notice. There is no American Constitution! You, proudly, submit to The Word™ being whatever word your professional betters choose to utter… indeed, you, proudly, submit to The Word™ being whatever word your professional betters refuse to utter… as being the Truth™. The Truth™ that always was. Subject to change without notice.

And (thanks, Stuart Smalley), that’s… ok. Because, you’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like you. But nobody, outside your turgid dreams, believes you.

    > Wha be a ten-foty form?

“Ten-forty.” It’s the police state call for more gibs.

  8. If Felons are allowed to vote.. they might as well restore their 2nd Amendment Rights! I know several I trust more than any democrat…

  9. “HR (Hillary Rodham) 1, a bill that will more easily enable democrats to steal an election, as they failed to do last time.”
    There’s some transparency for you!
