A Bosom Buddy Has Died

The second banana to Tom Hanks on the show Bosom Buddies has lost a 2 year battle with cancer.

Peer Scolari had work but was always in the shade of the mighty breakout star Tom Hanks.

Scolari’s 43-year show business career included such highlights as his Emmy-nominated series regular role of producer Michael Harris on Bob Newhart’s 1984-90 comedy Newhart, an Emmy-winning recurring role as the father of Lena Dunham’s character on HBO’s Girls, and, most recently, his role as Bishop Thomas Marx on the CBS supernatural drama Evil.

  1. A consummate professional, talented. Never heard a bad thing about him. May his family know his life gave others joy.
    RIP, Mr. Scolari.

  2. On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Scolari
    Contemplating a crime
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolor in the rain…

  3. Little known fact: Tom Hanks was so embarrassed by his appearance in this show, that when he made it big, he bought all the rights to the show and buried it.
