A Hundred Suspected Illegals Detained in TN Traffic Stop Operation

AP

More than 100 people have been taken into custody by federal immigration officials in a joint operation with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, leaving many in Nashville’s immigrant community uncertain and worried.

“None of us have ever seen anything like this,” Lisa Sherman Luna, executive director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition said Friday.

The operation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a reminder of how local and state law enforcement jurisdictions are critical to President Donald Trump’s plans for mass deportations. Last week, Florida officials touted a joint operation with ICE that resulted in 1,120 immigration arrests.

The Highway Patrol said Friday that it made 588 stops in the joint operation with ICE, which took custody of 103 under investigation for immigration violations. More

  1. Nashville Law Director Wally Dietz said the state-federal operation, which began May 3, caught everyone in city government by surprise.

That’s great news! No dirty leakers for a change!

[Dietz] said he didn’t know who was detained and that, when he requested more information from the Highway Patrol, he was told to file a public records request.

    HAHAHAHAAAHAAAHAAAHAHAHA! Well played, Troopers!

  2. @Anon20:20 — About that ‘due process’ — I shut up a grumbling commenter elsewhere by pointing out that there’s a ‘due process’ for getting INTO the U.S., and these people refused to follow it. They’re in no position now to demand that they get due process as they get kicked OUT.

  3. Brilliant move, TN! Word is out now, and all those “nervous” illegals will be at least heading for your state’s borders and off for more sanctuary states.

I don’t care how long ago someone broke into our country, they need to go. As long as anyone is living off the radar, they have to break other laws in order to go undetected. Ever wonder why we were inundated with ads to protect ourselves from identity theft? We’re just now starting to apply for Social Security Retirement benefits and it’ll be no shock if someone else has been claiming ours in the interim. I hope that isn’t the case but I wouldn’t be surprised, since we are late filers.

  4. If I was an illegal immigrant I would take Uncle Sam’s offer to self deport,1000$ and a one way ticket, beats ending up in a prison in El Salvador.

  5. Illegal aliens have NO civil rights, they have human rights but zip zero nada special considerations regarding status or process for removal. If apprehended they ought be IMMEDIATELY removed. Legal aliens, people with refugee status… of which there can be NONE in America as the countries adjacent are considered safe… have VERY LIMITED civil protections. If you’re illegal the only proper disposal of yourself is full biometric ID and PERMANENT EXPULSION. Let those who come legally have the spot. Never allow an illegal a moment of peace, of security, of comfort. Run them off immediately and permanently.
