Sometimes, I think about how far we’ve come from years ago. Have we been advancing or is something else happening? Were things better hundreds of years ago?

We’ve all seen the degradation of our society in the past 50 years — most especially, the past 20 years. We all have our personal stories of what was considered unacceptable behavior in our youths. Our society has become increasingly uncivilized. Proof of it is everywhere. I don’t need to detail it. What would have shocked us to the core is now considered par for the course. What I find most heart-breaking is senior citizens are often the worst offenders. They used to take up new interests or perfect existing hobbies in their golden years. It’s shameful to see people who should know better, are wiser from having lived so long, behaving so foolishly.
That’s progress. We were warned that not all progress was good.

Some things are better like running water, toilets, abundant food and 8 hr work days, being able to go on vacation and have lots of “toys” to entertain us.
But what’s worse is the amount of freedom we have lost and our inability to control those who swore to protect and serve us.
I would gladly give up modern conveniences if I could go where I want, do what I want and not be spied on, taxed and regulated at every bend in the road.
