American Christians Must Learn the Lesson Our European Brothers and Sisters Missed

America First Report:
The church in Europe didn’t collapse overnight. It withered slowly—generation by generation—as the light of the Gospel was dimmed by compromise, complacency, and the seductive comfort of cultural acceptance. Today, most of Europe’s grand cathedrals are hollow monuments—tourist attractions rather than houses of worship. Faith, once the backbone of Western civilization, has been replaced by secular humanism, bureaucratic globalism, and moral confusion. The question confronting America now is simple: will we learn from Europe’s downfall, or repeat it?

The Spectator recently published a sobering warning: European Christianity has been “decimated” not by persecution, but by surrender. In nation after nation, the church chose popularity over purity, silence over truth, and inclusivity over conviction. From the Church of England’s open embrace of gender ideology to Germany’s taxpayer-funded “state churches” preaching climate repentance instead of sin repentance, the once-mighty Christian foundations of Europe have become spiritual ruins.

And yet, many American churches seem determined to follow the same suicidal path. more

  1. “The question confronting America now is simple: will we learn from Europe’s downfall, or repeat it?”

If the “we”, doing the same thing as the failed “we”, are a different “we”, then it’s — OBVIOUSLY — NOT — the same. Trust me, bro.

  2. I submit that the decline was begun by the rulers of Europe sending their honorable, valorous, God-fearing men off to be senselessly slaughtered in the Great War. And then laying the foundation to do it again a generation later.

  3. The decline of Christianity ( the concept of an actual personal relationship with God) can be attributed to the very basic nature of man as it has evolved in our current society.

Being a Christian requires certain things: motivation, curiosity, gratitude, purpose, and humbleness, things most folks today are unwilling to expend effort on. When you are selfish, narcissistic, uncurious, lazy, and unmotivated, you take the path of least resistance; you sit still and not try to move forward.

    Although I hope Europe can turn things around, my focus (as with most things) is my own country. I am encouraged that Bible sales are exploding;

A dangerous, divided, degenerate nation can open many eyes. People are realizing we are in trouble, and things could turn ugly very quickly. Faith in God and a hearty adherence to the 2nd Amendment should be foremost on everyone’s mind.

  4. They didn’t miss a Goddamn thing. They willingly and knowingly surrendered their birthright as a child of God when they willfully and knowingly threw in their lot with Satan. In their narcissistic arrogance they refuse to look for joy and fulfillment anywhere other than in places Satanic promises, and it has never been found. Their American cousins are no less narcissistic and arrogant and are cut from the same cloth.

  5. If by decline in the church you mean less brick and mortar, butts in the pews tradition then I say good riddance. Most of that was false anyway. We don’t need a return to anything. We need to turn to Christ, repent, engage in fellowship and make disciples. We need to share the gospel and then watch Jesus build his body. If that body is millions of home churches then so be it.

The Unitarian “church” is no closer to Christianity than is the Satanic Temple, more likely than not the Unitarians are even further separated.

  7. Too many churches in this country, and other countries, are too focused on who leads the church … the organization of the group of churches, the pastor, the elders, and the “leaders” (those people who feel it’s “their” church because they have been going there forever so they feel their preferences are more important that any other person in the congregation). When that happens, it’s a group of people who love control and have no humility to submit to God and his word.

The Church is lead by Jesus and only his message is gospel. Those who “lead” the churches MUST submit to him and not their own selfish opinions.

  8. As an American ex-pat who’s lived in Germany for over 20-years, the idea of being “born again” is a completely foreign concept to most protestant Europeans. In fact most of the basic fundamental principles of Christianity and what Christ actually taught is beyond the knowledge or understanding of even the average person who attends services on a regular basis.

Europeans who claim to be Christians are often unable to discuss some of the most basic tenants of scripture because they were never taught the Bible. What they do know are some of the basic Biblical characters; Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses and generally what Christmas and Easter are about. Beyond that, they haven’t a clue about God’s word.

Few if any have ever read the Bible cover to cover, let alone spent any time studying it. And if you ask why they come back with “It’s too complicated to understand and not everything is correct because of all the translations.” But they think because they attend Church and sing songs twice a year, that’s enough to call themselves Christians.

And when you talk about book of Revelations it gets really interesting. Just mention the Rapture, the Mark of Beast, the rein of the Anti-Christ, the Tribulation, the Second Coming and the 1,000 kingdom, they typically reply with “I’ve gone to church my whole life and I’ve never heard about any of that.” And when I tell them it’s all clearly laid out in Revelations and backed up by Daniel, Ezekiel and other Old Testament prophets their usual smug response is “Well, that must be some sort of American conspiracy theory or some weird sect that believes that sort of thing.”

If they attend church at all, they listen to milk toast sermons about being nice to each other and how God loves everyone. There’s no discussion about salvation, and no open invitation to accept Christ as their personal Savior. Generally speaking the sermons don’t include anything that might upset someone and they make a point to avoid any teachings that might be considered ‘controversial’ or ‘uncomfortable’ for people in today’s society.

I can sum it up by saying the sermons and these so-called “Christians” are just cold and hard-hearted as the stones these once great Cathedrals were built from.

  9. Wild Bill and JD Hasty the Unitarian “church” believes in everything but the God of all creation. Like GK Chesterton knowingly said that if you don’t believe in God you’ll believe in anything. I am currently rereading the complete works of Francis Schaeffer A Christian worldview just because I need to be reminded of how God has worked thru out world and American history in the past and to give me hope once again with all the mess, we’re in currently because we as people have forgotten or neglected God much to our peril. I also finished rereading the entire Lord of the ring’s trilogy by JRR Tolkien a couple of weeks ago in about 2 week’s time. Books, the more the better especially the good ones to keep me busy and my mind sharp. I watch too many old westerns on ROKU especially Cinevault westerns with the old B western movies with the Durango Kid from the 40’s when I’m not reading and other old oaters and horse operas. The kids nowadays don’t know what they’re missing from not having grown up during the heyday times of action packed, rockem sockem, gun toting, wild horse chasing B westerns with Smiley Burnette as the sidekick. You can’t have too many good books and old B movie westerns to keep me going.

  10. Zonga – the Orthodox Church in the US is experiencing exponential growth. Many young families. Many people fleeing Superfun Rockband Church and the wreckage of Catholicism. It’s very challenging. Nothing easy about being Orthodox. Take up your cross and follow Him.

FWIW, “rapture” is a novel concept thought up by a shoe salesman and a lawyer – Moody and Scofield. Whole lotta folks are going to be sorely disappointed.

  11. The “orthodox church”, the original version of Christianity, is based on cosmopolitan Hellenistic ethics. Read Aristotle, then the writings of St John the Chrysostom, who describes the practical reasons that marriage, and dealing with wealth and others were carefully engineered by the early Church to elevate Humanity. Their mission was a sustainably better Civilization of Man.

  12. Bible is very clear on a lot of things. Turning stern direction into meaningless pap makes pap eaters more inclined to have a bite but turns off the sternly inclined. Queer female bishops is all one has to say to explain why people don’t do church anymore. Read the bible and it will inform you on the subject of Christianity. There isn’t one major sect or denomination that hasn’t pretty well completely abandoned the teachings of Christ in favor of… easily digested, meaningless pap.
