AP caught peddling blatant fake news at ‘far right’ protest rally in Portland

Following is a breakdown of AP reporter Andrew Selsky’s article ‘Portland chief orders review of use of force by police at protest; Patriot Prayer, ANTIFA faceoff; Counter-protesters say they were targeted’ which appeared in the Seattle Times on Aug. 6, 2018, page B6.

In an extremely biased article, Associated Press journalist Andrew Selsky begins by failing to note the Portland Police Department’s claim that its officers were attacked by Antifa mobs. He only notes the police order for Antifa to disperse without saying why.

In classic fake-news style, Selsky cites the second half of the police announcement, but censors the first half. [This same chicanery was used by ABC News, NBC Nightly News and almost every other mainstream outlet that reported on this story over the weekend.]

Then, pretending to be neutral, Selsky repeatedly quotes at length the CAIR-Portland and Portland Democratic Socialists of America’s denunciation of “white supremacists, white nationalists and neo-Nazi gangs” without noting that CAIR and DSA were leaders of the Antifa side.

Selsky fails to inform his readers that among the others on the Antifa side were Rose City Antifa, ILPS [a Philippine Communist Party front group], the Guillotine Pod [which was used to behead a manikin of President Trump at OccupyICEPDX followed by an enactment of public acts of sexual necrophilia with the head, in front of children], the green-masked Rojavist security force, International Socialist Organization, Portland Assembly, etc.  MORE

  1. The left and it’s mouth piece media are definitely egging this on. Same is happening in Charlottesville on the one year anniversary of the splat cat flattening of some lefttard protestor by the ‘alt right, which is actually another faction of the left.

Media is begging for a situation and a confrontation and they’ll get it. Even if they have to manufacture it themselves.

Media always say 3 died that weekend. One hippie chick did. A pilot and his passenger in the helo monitoring did when they crashed. Not exactly anybody’s fault but the pilot, but it’s a sensational meme. Roll with it.

  2. Typical. I’m glad that even though I see/read this kind of crap all the time it still pisses me off.

Aside: Extremism gets a bad rap. As Karl Hess wrote, and Barry Goldwater said,

Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.
Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.

  3. On Fake News. Some good news. My friend HD told me that there’s a funny video out there about a guy in hospital after a serious operation. His doctor was amazed at his improvement after about one week. The guy said he had to get up three or four times a day to manually change the TV Channel from CNN to “something else.” That attributed to his miraculous recovery. I’d like to see the video. Anyone?

  4. Did you ever notice that whenever there is a prayer rally, a pro-Trump demonstration, or a pro-veteran parade that the Antifa gang show up to disrupt, the media always portray the good guys as “white supremacists, white nationalists and neo-Nazi gangs”? Thus legitimizing the violence of the commie leftists.

  5. they only did that because they know those oregonites will believe anything.
