An openly transgender woman has been named pastor of a Baptist church in Ohio, Baptist News Global reported.

A Baptist church that meets on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, plans to ordain a transgender woman to the gospel ministry this Sunday.

Erica Saunders

Erica Saunders, a 2019 master-of-divinity candidate at the Wake Forest University School of Divinity, will become a reverend in a worship service scheduled at 4 p.m. on March 24 in Wait Chapel on the university campus.

Saunders, 24, will be one of the first openly trans individuals to be ordained by a Baptist church in the United States. Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., a congregation now led by married lesbian co-pastors, ordained Allyson Robinson, a transgender woman, to the gospel ministry in 2014.

Saunders, a ministry intern at Wake Forest Baptist Church who began her transition during her first year of seminary, introduces herself on social media as “probably the only bi, trans, Baptist preacher lady you know.”

“Trans folks exist,” Saunders posted this week on Twitter. “God created us just the way we are, and God calls us good. Unfortunately, being trans means I’m not welcome in most churches as a visitor, let alone a leader. But we are Christians. We are called.”

  1. I just wanted to say that I do not oppose trannies or other mentally ill people going to church.
I resent a church using one as to get PC points. That dude needs help. he’s bi-sexual and cannot accept the sex that he truly is. He should have been helped and not made a side-show.

Also, he looks like Sherman from Sherman and Mr. Peabody.
    OK now I’m done.

  2. “…they are without excuse:…
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man…Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:20-32

Well, the Word certainly nailed down a large chunk of today’s society. It is proven out every single day!

  3. The SBC is too busy sucking up to the woke crowd and critical theory…..while their leader is lessening the problem with homosexuality.

  4. I have not seen it written anywhere, but I expect her teaching will be an abomination to the Creator! That is a place nobody wants to be.

  5. According to the supreme politicians and medical weenie of California this person is suddenly at risk for cervical cancer – even though there is no cervix in there.

What’s next? Surrogate abortion. What do you think?

  6. It will get interesting when some dude transgenders into an Islamic women and wears the whole hijab costume. That should be received well.

  7. “A congregation now led by married lesbian co-pastors…” And soon by a delusional extreme transvestite.

If this is what some people want to do instead of going to a real Baptist church, well that’s their business. Why is this being exalted in the media (off of press releases that should have been ignored, IMO). There are all kind of crackpots and crackpot things out there, and they’re not “news”.

  8. Lord. I pray for the new “pastor” and the people of that church. I pray you wrathfully throw down massive balls of fiery sulfur down on that congregation just like you used to in the good ol’ days. In Jesus’s Name…AMEN.

    “I’m through with religion.”

…why? This only validates the Bible…

    “4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
    1 Timothy 4:1-2

“2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

    3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?”

    2 Thessalonians 2:2-5

…sounds like someone saw this coming…

  10. Hey Fur!

Let’s have a contest for the name of this tranny church. I’ll go first!

The Church Of The Severed Cock

  11. Those of us who are Christian will just have to find a church where we can worship; it may not be your “denomination,” but dogma is bull hockey. Grace and Faith…Period.

No one is hell bound because they are a Traditionalist or Conditionalist; No one is going to hell because they do not bend the knee to Catholicism/ Protestantism/ Evangelicanism/ Charismaticism.

    GRACE and FAITH. Period.

I’m Church of Christ, but I attend a Baptist Church…because CoC is not nearby, and the Baptist preach The Word of G_D; do all my beliefs match their dogma? No, but it doesn’t matter….because GRACE of G_D through FAITH in JESUS CHRIST. Period.

Don’t worry about dogma; get to church and hang out with fellow Christians!

  12. Odin 2013 8:30 pm, you are so right. I also attend a Baptist church even though I am non-denomination, but they teach from Scripture only, worship music is God centered and God is welcome and shows up every time it’s open.

  13. I was raised Baptist. I said FU when I was a teenager and worked at the local hotel that had a bar and got blasted by the deacons’s wives. I told them that their husbands tab was due on the third…

  14. I think that when the Rapture does happens, there will be so few true Christians left in the world that nobody will notice they’re gone. A few churches might see attendance drop 1 or 2%, but that’s all.

  15. No!
You were born with original sin and you fully embraced your depravity. It is a huge insult to God to blame Him for your transgressions.

  16. Any institution leftists can’t control, they delegitimize.

Just who do they think they are catering to? Episcopalians?

For any Episcopalians in the audience, George Carlin once referred to Episcopalians as Catholic Light. All of the sin and none of the guilt.

  17. I always learned in Sunday School that Jesus came to save us from religion so we could live by faith. After reading that article I think it’s time most of us saved ourselves from religion and started living by faith. That’s Oberlin, though. Home of more freaks than you can count plus the very cool Gibson’s bakery, winner of a multi-million dollar judgement against Oberlin College.

  18. Ever notice how they always want jobs where they can preach and influence. Why don’t they want jobs on construction sites or mining?
