Bernie Sanders Spent $221K on Private Jets Amid ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ Tour

WFB:
Sen. Bernie Sanders has crisscrossed the country on his nationwide Fighting Oligarchy Tour to rail against billionaires and supposed “oligarchs” like Elon Musk—while traveling like an oligarch himself.

Campaign expenditures released Tuesday and reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show Sanders’s main campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spent $221,723 chartering private jets during the first quarter of 2025, with the first payment coming just days before the launch of his tour in February.

“We will not accept a rigged economy where working people struggle while billionaires become richer,” Sanders said during the tour’s latest event in California on Tuesday. “We have got to create an economy that works for working people, not just Mr. Musk and the billionaire class.” But Sanders has had no issue splurging on private jets far beyond the means of working people, even as he has ramped up his attacks on the rich.

The revelation is just the latest contrast between his socialist rhetoric and his millionaire lifestyle. The Vermont senator used to rail against “millionaires and billionaires” in his speeches denouncing oligarchy—until he became a millionaire himself shortly before his 2020 presidential campaign, at which point he trained his fire on “billionaires.” more here

  1. Maybe those “Friends of Bernie Sanders” are just working class folk who only want Bernie to be comfortable flying in a private jet while they struggle to make housing payments, put their children through school, and make payments on their vehicle. I can’t imagine Bernie would ever accept contributions from the wealthy to fund his lifestyle and political ambitions – Bernie would never do political favors for his biggest contributors when there are so many working class people who need his guidance.

I also fly first class occasionally – when I get bumped from a flight and the airline upgrades me for taking an alternative flight. But who am I to complain when Bernie has such generous working class friends. More importantly, how do I find these types of friends willing to fund the lifestyle I want to be accustomed to?

  2. I’m very much enjoying Gutfeld’s commentary (both on The Five and then on his show) on “the latest thing” that pops up every week or so from the Democrats. It’s such a simple, obvious, repetitive tactic. But it’s so simple, it seems to need explanation and we need reminding every so often.

The biggest problem the Left poses to conservatives and other common sense people is that we tend to take them seriously, and then try to engage their throw-away rhetoric. Today is “oligarchy!”, tomorrow it’s who knows what? In any case, their primary goal is to simply throw sand in the gears of our effort to MAGA. They could not care less about that MS-13 illegal, protecting so-called “transgenders” so-called “rights”, or any of the rest of it.

It’s a trap we must refuse to fall into. It is also abundantly clear the Democrats are in dire straits as evidenced by their very public in-fighting (when was the last time the D’s disagreed publicly on anything going on in their hive?). Imagine being so bereft of leadership that you have to choose between Sanders and Sandra, or Buttigeig and Harris. If I was a D voter, I’d give up any interest in politics for good and all, but that takes common sense.

  3. Bernie is still BUTT HURT over the loss of nomination over Killary at he DNC Convention in 2016. Need to lock him and Always On Cotex in a windowless room for a couple of days to see who has become the Supreme Socialist or if they end up killing each other in the process.
