By Olivia Murray- Only the government could create a school system that comes with private tuition costs and one of the verifiably worst educations. Actually, allow me to rephrase that: Only a “progressive” leftist government could accomplish such a feat.
According to a new report at Fox News, Chicago Public Schools are facing an enrollment crisis, one so significant that around 150 of the schools are “half-empty.” Furthermore, 47 of the district’s schools are functioning “at less than one-third capacity,” driving up costs and eliminating course diversity. (For reference, there are around 630 in the district, which means that roughly, 30% of CPS schools are severely underattended.)
And, what does that mean in terms of cost? Grab a barf bag, because this is your money we’re talking about: MORE
Government must have ZERO involvement in education/schooling, and that INCLUDES STEALING FROM EVERYONE on behalf of parents.
Gee Wally, just think of all the teachers and the layers of administrators they still have on the payroll NOT teaching kids reading, writing, arithmetic and history! For 12 years we spend all that on each kid and on graduation day the school shits out abject Dummies!
China’s luvin it!
Chicago? Convert those schools into jails. I mean, penal department jails instead of the current jails run by the ‘education’ department.
SIDEBAR: About 25 years ago when we were living in Apex, NC (Wake County, south of Cary and Raleigh), I got it into my head that I wanted to see a breakdown of public school personnel by job type and salary range for each.
The govt, of course, made it very very difficult to extract that data from online/public sources. But I was mostly successful, and here’s the meat of it. I divided headcount into two categories: those that had regular daily contact with students, and those that didn’t. I was generous, and included in that first ‘contact’ group not only teachers but also nurses, librarians, cafeteria workers, even janitors. All the administrators were in that second group.
Fewer than half of the school employees saw students, and they cost between 75% and 80% of the payroll.
Infuriating, but only to be expected from lib/dem govt.
i dont think i needed a public education to know that this isnt good.
Charlie WalksonWater,
Haven’t seen you in AGES! God bless you!
nice to still be alive and kickin’ aint it?
Notice what’s missing from this report? Yeah that’s missing.
Not even getting $93 worth of education.
I guess they’re homeschooling. Back in their own countries. (ICE)
Brandon Johnson, the Chicago mayor and former Chicago Teacher’s Union employee, is in the bag for the CTU. In their last contract, the CTU wanted 30 billion dollars – much of which was supposedly to target global warming. Teachers got substantial raises, there were pension increases despite the fact that Illinois pensions are woefully underfunded, and despite declining enrollment the CTU fights any teacher attrition or school closings. One school has less than 50 students, and more teachers and administrators than students. The CTU has also lobbied hard, with some success, against charter schools and private schools.
The Illinois teachers unions are the biggest and most powerful lobbyists in Illinois – and many of their activities have nothing to do with education. They are protected by Johnson, and I doubt anything will change to the detriment of not only Chicago, but the rest of Illinois as well.
they gotsta keep up the dindu-grifter jobs, honkies!
Chicago public schools are an ongoing criminal enterprise. It needs to be shut down using RICO statutes.
