Come see the massive Chinese skyscraper

that is once again under construction after 10 years of sitting empty and abandoned.

  1. Does that mean China is doing well? Because I’ve been told that China was on the ropes. For the last thirty years:

…and that every step forward for China, comes at a cost:

We can have a chuckle at China’s expense, but I’d like to see a few of our steel mills opening up after sitting empty for thirty years. Let the Chinese chuckle about that.

  2. The show “Life Without People” made it really clear just how quickly human creations fall apart and are re-consumed by nature once the maintenance stops and nature invades. I wouldn’t even walk near this building at this point.

  3. I went to the observation level of the Sears Tower in Chicago, flown in hot air balloons 5,000+ ft high, stood on the edge of a mountain cliff, walked across suspension foot traffic bridges over rivers, and flown 35,000+ ft with my nose pressed to the window of a jet.

Not afraid of heights, but seeing that view from the top down of this China building, I’d say that I would never ever set foot in that thing.

  4. That structure has been exposed to the elements for ten years, freezing and thawing, next to salt water. They should just tear it down. There is no way they can ensure that corrosion of cheap out-of-spec Chinese steel is not advanced inside the tofu concrete, at least in a few spots, and it only takes one small structural failure to start a rapid cascade of failures that can bring the building down.

  5. Godless Chinese culture determined to finish their communist version of the Tower of Babel. A fool says in their heart there is no God. That skyscraper is coming down.

  6. Isn’t the erection of -yet another- record breaking skyscraper an indicator of an economic top, a warning of an imminent economic crash? Isn’t that what stopped it last time? What are these slopes thinking? Anything?
