Able Child: Connecticut is a case study in what happens when political competition vanishes. Democrats now hold every statewide office and a supermajority in the legislature, but the dysfunction runs deeper than partisan dominance. The Republican Party, once a viable counterweight, bears a heavy share of responsibility for decades of corruption, backroom deals, and exclusionary politics that have left the state’s government unaccountable, and its citizens disillusioned.
With the June 24, 2025, Republican State Chair election just days away, the spotlight is not only on the Democrats’ grip on power but on the GOP’s own failures. In the 2-bit town I live in, both the Democrats and Republicans have changed their party affiliation to Independent. That way, they can be as stupid as ever without having political baggage dragging them down.
By the way, every conservative has left town so the only thing left is a Dollar Tree store and the courthouse. They all still vote Demoncrat
It was already a lost cause shithole when I left, never looked back. Had no income tax until we elected some asshole that said he wouldn’t do it. Lowell Weicker. Fukkin Benedict Goldberg he was. It’s a Mafia state. Totally corrupt.
We all know that the republican party as more problems than just Connecticut.
Connecticut is a fag/Nazi state. Don’t go there.
I was a member of my towns republican committee in Connecticut. I watched ineptitude become inaction. Nothing short of dynamite would move the entrenched fossils at all levels in the state. I am now a registered Libertarian and I love it when idiots start to tell me whats wrong with Libertarians. I start to reel off fact after fact about the Uniparty most people belong to.
Trust me most of you belong to a seriously dysfunctional political party.
We left on Mother’s Day of 1993. Fuck that place, wont go back for even a short visit, no way, no how.
