GP: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has announced that effective May 7, 2025, all adult U.S. citizens must present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification or a valid passport to board domestic flights and access federal facilities.
This enforcement marks the culmination of the REAL ID Act, originally passed in 2005 following the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations to enhance the integrity and security of state-issued identification documents.
On December 17, 2018, President Trump signed the REAL ID Act Modification for Freely Associated States Act, Public Law 115-323.
“If you plan on traveling, we need your help to prevent delays and to prove your identity. Get a REAL ID. Starting May 7th, you will need a REAL ID to travel by air or to visit federal buildings in the United States,” Noem said in a video statement. more
Meh.
Im done with planes.
See recent aviation history for further details.
Awesome move. Interestingly enough I live in the state of California that can’t figure out how to issue me a drivers licenses with a legit I.D. So I can’t fly. Oh boohoo. The state requires you to come back with a birf certificate to get a Fed approved I.D. Which costs an additional $85.00. I’m 68, I think, they had that 411 until a couple years ago. What ever.
It took a while, but the George W. Bush / Dick Cheney Federal Police State Police Enforcement Force finally gets to apply their master’s Mark.
Noem:
Prevent fraud? Prove it.
Enhance security? Show me how. Details required.
If I were to truly do my part to protect MY country, as distinct from YOUR govt, I would be violating YOUR laws. I’m sure you’d like that, you totalitarian aspirant.
We’ve been through this already. The problem is that illegals were receiving real IDs too with fake ID’s and birth certificates.
I moved to South Dakota in 2008, my now ex wife and I got REAL ID driver’s licenses and had to prove our identity by a certified birth certificate, had to send for mine and two pieces of mail from an approved list of businesses such as a mortgage company, power company, etc. Since that time I have not flown nor have I been to a federal building, nor care too. With that ID, I still had to prove me being me by other identification beside that damn star in the corner of my DL. Totalitarian state he we come…fluck ’em!
Have one. Nearly twenty years now, I think. Doesn’t matter, I don’t do planes.
God willing, I’ll never set foot in an aircraft ever again. So take your “real ID” and cram it somewhere uncomfortable.
This is one significant step to further implement the coming beast system. We have traded leftist tyranny for the same coming from the right.
We know how the feds work. This will be a hard requirement for legit US citizens forever. But the next time democrats run things, we’ll go right back to allowing illegals to fly anywhere with no fucking ID at all. This is just another opportunities for democrats to shit on the public first chance they get.
Otherwise, in a properly used setting, I have no problem with Real ID provided it will apply to EVERYONE ALWAYS. Not just chosen demographics the democrats in power want to shit on.
Doan dis beez too hard for us???
RAYCISS!
real-id clowns, i have a “fly” you can do something with
Thank God you don’t need any ID to vote in a blue state or city. I just can’t figure out how to get one.
And so far, Real ID has not captured one single terrorist
Real ID is an excellent idea. It validates citizenship, is harder to forge, prevents cheaters from getting IDs in multiple states, and is easier to carry and less instrusive than a passport.
Most countries already have a national ID card.
The carrying on all over the place from the very same people who claim to be against open borders, illegal immigration, and voter fraud… is just phenomenal.
No intelligible reasons are given for the hysteria. Best that I can discern is that this has something to do with a vague, misunderstood visceral irrational fear of either “biometrics” (irrelevant) or “mark of the beast” or something (as if the United States of America is the beast and so don’t affiliate with it.)
Others rail about having to show ID to get on a commercial plane flight. Oh woe is us, how positively terrible. Not that this hasn’t already been the case for decades.
Interesting how nobody ever tells the public that a US Passport will suffice.
You not only need it to fly but with DEI now running rampant it helps to identify you after the crash
Don’t fall for this BS on real ID! https://rumble.com/v6qnpbu-real-id-real-enforcement.html
This is blatantly racist. Everyone knows black people are too stupid to acquire any form of ID. Right, Democrats? That’s what you’ve been saying all along.
fuckin joke, this useless shit was passed back around 2005 and now it starts. good job awesome gov’t. I was due for a new license a few months ago and received mail or an email regarding this jerk off nonsense. so I play their stupid game. I show up to Calcutta, I mean my local NYC DMV with documents such as…my license, utility bill, passport, concealed carry permit, birth certificate, retired NYPD ID and NY armed guard license. no good, person at desk said “oh you don’t have your Social Security card Sec card ?” no I do not. so I found out that if I fly domestically to just bring my passport. all good, haven’t flied domestically in forever, total rip off. I’ll just stick to my couple of trips to Costa Rica every year. first class for $1,200 as opposed to first class to say San Diego for example which costs over 3K
“… all adult U.S. citizens must present a REAL ID …”
Funny that it doesn’t mention anybody else, isn’t it?
mortem tyrannis
izlamo delenda est …
30 years ago, ALL driver’s licenses were “real ID”, in that you had to provide a birth certificate as proof of identity, and be a citizen. Then the democrats started handing them out to everyone and ruined the system. Now the DMV charges extra for “real ID”, so they can claim that requiring it to vote “disenfranchised the poor”. I hate democrats.
Now that the inside of commercial airliners look like a Waffle House, and the cockpit is staffed via DEI, I will probably never fly commercial again.
