DOJ “Abruptly” Fires Three J6 Prosecutors

AP

The Justice Department on Friday fired at least three prosecutors involved in U.S. Capitol riot criminal cases, the latest moves by the Trump administration targeting attorneys connected to the massive prosecution of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Those dismissed include two attorneys who worked as supervisors overseeing the Jan. 6 prosecutions in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington as well as a line attorney who prosecuted cases stemming from the Capitol attack, the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters.

A letter that was received by one of the prosecutors was signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The letter did not provide a reason for their removal, effective immediately, citing only “Article II of the United States Constitution and the laws of the United States,” according to a copy seen by The Associated Press. They waited until SCOTUS finally clipped the wings of all the activist federal judges so the DOJ wouldn’t be forced to give them their jobs back. – Dr. Tar

  1. The linked article is from AP, which hasn’t been a legitimate news organization for a number of years now. Notwithstanding that the Biden administration engaged in open lawfare, the fact remains that many of the J6 defendants spent numerous months or years in jail only to be released when they pled to misdemeanors so they could go home. (Note: most states limit jail time for misdemeanors to up to one year in jail, and most misdemeanor defendants don’t serve any time).

One thing California got right was their speedy trial statutes. People charged with misdemeanors must go to trial within 45 days of arraignment, and folks charged with felonies must go to trial within 60 days. Defendants can waive these time limits, but if the prosecution brings a bullshit case most defense attorneys won’t waive the time limits. This would have solved a lot of the J6 lengthy incarceration without trial problems and resulted in a lot of dismissals.

Bondi needs to step it up.
Bondi must have gotten some input from the WH.
