Brad Frazier, 21, and his wife, Shea, 21, were killed in the crash.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Alejandro Guzman-Lopez, 23, tried to flee the scene of the deadly wreck but was caught by a witness, who held him until officers arrived.
Guzman-Lopez was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault, and four counts of failure to stop and render aid.
This week, prosecutors presented evidence over the course of several days as to how the crash occurred.
The trial started Monday. On Tuesday, Guzman-Lopez pled guilty to all eight charges and the punishment phase began.
The punishment phase concluded on Wednesday, and the jury reached their verdict around 12:30 p.m.
Guzman-Lopez was sentenced to 40 years in prison. According to the judge, he will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 20 years.
If and when he paroles, he will be deported to his home country of Mexico.

It’s like the new police chase-but instead of criminals-it’s wrong way drivers the helicopters are following. There’s no explanation, but I being evil and close minded, made the leap to illegals and others from countries where road signs and rules are optional. Oddly, here in Seattle this week there have been two wrong way crashes. No explanation only that they were committed by SUVs.

An illegal criminal invader (Wetback) killed my neighbors wife and nine month old son three years ago while driving drunk. He escaped the scene and the Texas Rangers caught him just before he made it to Mexico. We need to jail the assholes who allow this to keep happening.
