Horses can be very skittish over mundane things.
A decade ago I was participating in a parade at the Topsfield Fair towing my Sub Vets submarine float. Also participating was the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. They asked me to move the sub float away from the staging area because their horses refused to walk past it.
