Experts Warn We Could Experience Negative Net Migration

Economic Times

The economists-Wendy Edelberg, Tara Watson, and Stan Veuger, project that the US may experience negative net migration in 2025. “For the year as a whole, we think it’s likely [immigration] will be negative,” said Edelberg. “It certainly would be the first time in more than 50 years.”

Several recent policy decisions have contributed to this outlook. These include stricter border enforcement, increased deportations, the rollback of temporary protections for certain migrants, and proposed limits on student visas. Legal immigration inflows have declined, and the foreign-born workforce has dropped by over one million since March, according to US Labour Department data. More

  1. Other than industries that like to use illegal immigrants because they can pay them lower than the minimum wages that liberals demanded we require, I don’t see any real problems mentioned in the article.

  2. EXPERTS Warn —- are they the same experts who pushed COVID and had a blind eye on what happened in the Biden Administration?

President Trump and the following administration will have their hands full deporting illegal aliens. Biden/Obama damaged this country for at least 10 years.

I suspect there are 10s of thousands of immigrants going through the “Legal” immigration system who have degrees and skills ready to work toward the American dream in a Free society.
That alone is a Plus. If the economy must improve to allow families to afford children to grow this nation. No more Illegal immigrants with 6 children on the government dole or baby Mommas with 6 children from 5 deadbeat dads all who are on welfare, living in section8 housing, free medical and a monthly stipend.
A Good economy is a major Plus.

  3. The opinion of the economists sounds like the infamous NYT article some years back: “If crime rates keep dropping, why are the prisons overcrowded?”, or similar words. NYT, the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.

  4. With no illegals, wages go up to a level that induces Americans back into those fields we used to occupy: Carpenters, roofers, dishwashers, janitors, etc. While prices may go up temporarily, Americans workers will have more money to spend on goods, services, and yes, taxes. What we won’t see is 20 million people sucking government “resources” while sending an estimated $50,B back to their home countries. The government of Mexico and others actually factor in remittance as part of their annual GDP.

Teenagers will return to fast food, gas station, and landscaping starter jobs. I might finally be able to order a McMeal other than by Number 1, 2, or 3 and get what I actually want. I am tiered of having workers ask me if I speak Spanish because they don’t bother to learn English. If that means American workers can live better, I’m good with it. It’s long past time we stopped supporting the entire planet with our tax dollars being slung around as our National Dept exceeds WW2 levels.

As a side note, if the federal minimum wage had been maintained at the rate of inflation since 1980, it would be about $17 per hour. Instead, Corporations have been allowed to privatize the gains while socializing the costs. Our tax dollars have gone to “programs” that were needed to offset rising costs of living coinciding with artificially reduced wages.
