Federal Stockpile of N95 Respirator Masks Depleted Under Obama, Never Replaced

Washington Examiner

The national shortage of N95 respirator masks can be traced back to 2009 after the H1N1 swine flu pandemic, when the Obama administration was advised to replenish a national stockpile but did not, according to reports from Bloomberg News and the Los Angeles Times.

The Trump administration is scrambling to replenish a stockpile of protective medical gear for healthcare workers and patients as the coronavirus sweeps across the nation. N95 respirator masks are one of the most needed medical supplies amid the outbreak.

The George W. Bush administration published the National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza plan in 2005, which called on the federal government to distribute medical supplies from the Strategic National Stockpile governed by the Health and Human Services Department in the event of an outbreak.

In 2009, the H1N1 outbreak hit the United States, leading to 274,304 hospitalizations, 12,469 deaths, and a depletion of N95 respirator masks. More

  1. I do love the picture of the shit head, his mug not so much.
He is trying to get back in the game just look at his tweets. He still thinks he has the power.
I can’t wait till he gets over his skies and President Trump slaps him hard. He has before.

  2. Much as I like taking a shot at Obama, someone far below him had authority to purchase critical equipment,, unless I’m to believe a president Must authorize everything,

  3. Obama is a traitor. Everything he did and continues to do is was and is to sabotage America.

He belongs on a gallows next to hillary clinton and pelosi. Seriously.

It’s also getting to the point where jeff sessions belongs next to them, and pretty soon, AG Barr.

  4. It seems like President Trump is the purchasing agent for the whole country.
Not congress where it should start.
Noland, Shithead should have had his eyes on the whole country but he did not, he only cared about (His People)
When you run a business like President Trump has you care about the small things like how many boxes of nails or how many anchor bolts per floor.
That is why he knows how many masks or doses of pills it will take to get us out of this mess.
Its all in the details and he thrives on them.
I would hate to go into a meeting unprepared with President Trump, it would be your last one.

  5. “he only cared about (His People)”

Never did he care about his people.

    Never.

Had he done so, we would not be seeing such an electorate shift.

The Obamas were ONLY about themselves. Period.

Shame on the US for having elected this S.O.B.

    TWICE.

  6. When people RESPECT their Leader they DO THEIR JOB!

Imagine the Blast you would get from President Trump if he found out you ran out of a strategic supply of something.

He was already on top on the CRITICAL STEEL manufacturing problem well before it was on anyones radar.

He is not a perfect president, But man he is so close!

Besides, I think Valarie Jarred was Obama’s Iranian Boss

No. Those orders were stopped when Sequestration set in. The national stockpile gets ordered through the DLA or a GSA component and the overwhelming majority of what was on order was stopped. Don’t take my word for it, research it.

  8. Uh oh, those racist in 1911 had the nerve to name a plague that originated in Northern China, the 1911 Manchurian plague. 100% of those who became infected were dead within 48 hours.

The Chinese Imperial Court enlisted Doctor Lien-teh Wu to lead the effort against the plague. Dr. Wu invented the precursor of the N 95 (hint it’s designed to block 95% of airborne particles) respirator.

An expert French doctor GĂ©rald Mesny believed Dr. Wu was an ignorant full o’crap Chinaman. His expert opinion put him in the ground two days later.

Still, respirators are rarely used in hospitals to this day because it’s only outbreaks like COVID-19 that necessitate so much protection.

    And therein lays a tale.

    Surgical mask, N95 respirator.
    What’s the difference?

The first one blocks you from sneezing on others spreading your germs to them, The second one blocks you from inhaling 95% of airborne cooties from others.
