  1. A clever joke told in Christian churches with a large black membership is that Abednego was “a ‘bad’ negro”. Bad as in 70s slang for good, brave, and cool.

  2. I never understood why the writer of Daniel (according to most Biblical historians, it was written by Daniel himself) kept using the Babylonian names given to his three friends. Their Hebrew names were Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

Daniel was given a Babylonian name, Belteshazzar, but only used once. He was Daniel throughout the book. But he kept using the Babylonian names for his three friends.

    What a stinker.

I don’t know Claudia why the Hebrew names were not used but I can only speculate that the original Word of the Lord was corrupted to sway people away from the Bible or should I say the True Word of God. I’ve learned that the true meaning of God has not been corrupted even if the words have changed. So for me, the actual language changed but the meaning has not.
