Kildare goalkeeper Mary Hulgraine is this week’s guest on The GAA Social as she reveals how her religious faith helped turn her life around following a lengthy battle against alcohol and drug addiction.
Hulgraine will be in Crossmaglen on Sunday when Kildare face Armagh in Division One of the Ladies National Football League.
The podcast explores faith in a modern Ireland and is a fascinating insight into recovery and second chances.
“When I look back and see say 2016, it’s a million miles away from where I am today playing football,” Mary told Thomas and Oisin.
“My preparation is impeccable [now]. Looking back then, I was drinking the night before an All-Ireland Final.”
Hulgraine added that she has to battle against a sense of “shame” that can envelope her when she thinks about those dark days. more

Morning all, this seems like a good place to post this.
My third day in the hospital with a case of pneumonia. Last night the docs put a needle into my chest and pulled a 8 inch syringe of puss out, then hooked up a suction pump to continue draining. Lots of antibiotics and other meds.
I’m hoping like hell this initial procedure works and I can avoid the thoracic surgeon later.
Any prayers will be gratefully received

Dear Lord, we come before You today in thanks for all that You have done for us and all You will do for us, but we also come before You with an urgent request for Your healing touch. One who’s true name is known to You lies in a hospital this day with an affliction affecting the very breath of his life. We know that the medicine of Man is limited but that Your healing is unlimited. This man knows that well as he asks for prayers to You in faith and hope as You command us to do, so in celebration of Your mercy and in humble acknowledgement of Your power, we ask that You reward that faith to Your Glory by giving him a healing to share a praise report about, that we all may know that it is by You that all healing comes. Lord please guide the hands and minds of those doctors in which, like Luke of old, You have chosen to work Your healinf through, restore this man to his family and let those of us who join in prayer have yet another example of Your continuing love in the gathering gloom of this sin-struck world.
In praise to Your glory and by the blood of Your Son we ask this all hoping, praying, and expecting that it shall be done, in the merciful name of Jesus we pray,

…and while we are on the subject of prayers, my nephew’s wife “Dakota” is having a scheduled birth by C-section of their new daughter “Rita” today, sometime around 1300. Nothing is expected to be an issue but these things are always best in God’s Hands, so any prayers for her, her other children, and her man would be very much appreciated.
…as to the lady in this article, as Ive noted before Ive never seen anyone break an addiction without the Lord, and God blessed her when she turned to Him. With God alome, ALL things are possible, and she is living proof of that.

Thank you Geni. She’s having this scheduled C-section because she had a crash C-section last time, and the baby is kinda large this time.
