JTN: Kansas Republican Sen. Roger Marshall on Wednesday reintroduced the Viral Gain-of-Function Research Moratorium Act, to ban the federal government from funding such research.
“For the past few years, a select group of individuals at NIH [National Institutes of Health] and other federal agencies have undermined congressional oversight instead of being transparent or accountable to the American people,” Marshall said in an emailed press release. “This has hampered our ability to get to the bottom of the COVID-19 outbreak and gain a full understanding of how much taxpayers are subsidizing these dangerous activities.”
“This new GAO report further bolsters the need to address NIH’s failure in executing its oversight responsibilities of federally-funded research. Until the oversight process is reformed and adequate guidelines are in place to protect all of us from dangerous outbreaks, we must not allow any this research to continue,” he went on. more
Ya think? Gain Of Function = Weaponize against humans.
I think this is brand new. James Okeefe. Crazy stuff.
The Obama administration’s ban on gain-of-function research is what spurred the outsourcing of such research to China and Ukraine. Banning funding will simply spur creative funding techniques and continued outsourcing to corrupt and rogue states. Even purging government personnel who advocate gain-of-function research will not end the practice. It will simply move to the private sector, as the Pfizer article demonstrates.
The cat is out of the bag. It can never be put back. I dare say that even making it a capital offense would not discourage enough from pursuing it. The motivation to profit, as well as to play god, is too great.
Still, a sincere effort must be made to stop it.
Earth to Senator Marshall…..They’ll do it ANYWAY!
There are no repercussions inside the Beltway for breaking the law….unless you’re a conservative.
