Hundreds of Peonies Beheaded by Pro Palestine Radicals

CBS News –

Hundreds of peonies were vandalized at a University of Michigan garden at the peak of the flowers’ bloom time.

The vandalism happened late Saturday and was discovered Wednesday at the WE Upjohn Peony Garden in the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum. The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security said officers found that about 250 peony plants of the garden’s roughly 800 peony plants had most of their flowers appear to have been intentionally cut and left behind on the ground, with the scene surprising both garden staff and visitors.

University police say no group has been identified or taken credit for the vandalism, but some papers were left behind, including one that referenced the war in Gaza, saying: “Palestinian lives deserve to be cared for. More than these flowers.” More

According to CBS Detroit, more like 800 plants had their blooms decapitated. Watch

  1. Their hatred knows no bounds.

I was just remarking to Geoff C. this afternoon how beautiful the peonies are this year, too! We’re seeing them everywhere — in their glory.

  2. Satan wants everything dead. Nothing is spared if he has access to it. Especially living innocence that have no defense. Flowers do matter and that’s why they were targeted by these demoniac villains.

  3. Hunter, me too!

I nearly fainted; NOT THE PONIES! 🐎 HOW COULD THEY?

Oh, peonies. That’s still awful. I used to have all kinds of peonies of many colors in my yard in Minnesota. Beautiful flowers.

  4. I used to pick up peonies at least 2 to 3 times every spring from a U-Pick farm just outside of Pullman, Wash. when I was a driver for a local wholesale florist. My van was full of hundreds of peonies in buckets which I brought back to Spokane to sell to our customers. I also would pick up peonies from another small farm on occasion just outside of Prosser, Wash. Peonies are seasonal and are only available during the spring, but we did occasionally get some peonies from greenhouses in Alaska shipped by airfreight. And I’ve even seen peonies shipped from Israeli kubutzes for special occasions and very expensive weddings.

  5. As a child I used to go to the Peony Garden with my mother who loved Peonies and Roses. It was located in a remote part of the sprawling Arboretum. Many years later, my mother was dying in the U of M hospice. Out of the window I could see the Peony Garden, now visible because the expansion of the hospital and other development had opened up the backs of the Arboretum.
