In The “before” Iran…

I don’t know what needs to happen for them to get back to this, but I know it can’t be done by
any another country except Iran.

  1. How about Iran BEFORE THE CIA COUP OF 1953??? In which they OVERTHREW the democratically-elected government of Mossadeh and imposed the BRUTAL (and US government-trained) SHAH regime and his brutal secret police (the Savak). Yeah, history of Iran ALWAYS CONVENIENTLY begins with the embassy takeover (as if THAT was the beginning of it all). I’m not saying that I know EXACTLY how the current incarnation of their government would have turned out had the CIA NOT overthrown their government, but unlike the clueless Americans who have NO IDEA of the horrors their government has committed, the Iranian people are WELL AWARE of the terrible years under the Shah and his CIA enforcers. I can only think that AT LEAST, none of that would be acting as “baggage” in the discussions. But then the massive support for Israel isn’t helping matters with ANY M.E. nation.

  2. My dad was in the Air Force, and based in Libya (where my sister was born, so she is a real African, as our government could not acknoledge their presence…)

My dad was a navigator (pre-GPS) and he flew many mission from Libya in support of Iran.

It used to be an awesome country before the evil terroristic muslims took control.

May God help us to minimize the core muslms…

  3. @MrLiberty — That was August 1953, so Harry had to have been part of the lead-up, and Ike must have given the final OK.

You’re quite right. Most of our countrymen have no concept of the foulness of the U.S. violent ‘intervention’ is Iran. Infuriating.

  4. Mohammad Mosaddegh had nationalized the British Oil assets and was playing footsie with the commie soviets in the early 50’s. Of course the CIA is going to plan something. The dude wasn’t some Gandhi either

  5. Yeah Iran was great before we interfered. Riigghhtt. Except for their siding with Hitler and were muslim crazies before the Shah took over. They aren’t oppressed now under the current muslim crazies. They enjoy fun sports like throwing homosexuals off roofs and beating the hell out of women for the slightest infraction.

  6. In the early 70’s I lived in Augusta GA. A neighbor had ben a Marine in Iran working at the embassy and married one of the locals. She was in her 40’s back then and she was beautiful as was their teenage daughter who was 3 years older than me.

  7. Seems like the oil reserves mattered more to US/CIA interests than, say, their citizens and self-determination. On the other hand, the sheikhs were all about the oil money for decades before then.

  8. I never said it would be “nirvana” without the CIA games…but at least our relationship would not be tainted by 25 years of violent tyranny paid for and propped up by the US. And how much more is Islam supported BECAUSE of what the US and Israel have done?

  9. I wonder, does the CIA consider itself a US intelligence agency anymore? I think even back then they were not representing our best interests. Who controls the CIA?

  10. It was a very European culture, but with a dishonest, ruthless business side that’s been imported into the US. The younger generations aren’t as bad though.

  11. I was in submarine school in Groton CT in 1978. There were several dozen (at least) Iranian sailors there who were being trained. Iran was buying some diesel boats from us. I never saw them again but heard that when Khomeini & Co took over they were all recalled and shot.
