OAN: The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have struck a deal with Russia and the Assad government to protect Kurdish areas from an offensive by the Turkish military. Assad’s forces are backed by the Russian military and will be deployed along the Syrian-Turkish border to halt the bloodshed.
The announcement comes amid the ongoing withdrawal of U.S. troops. The Pentagon is expecting all U.S. troops to be removed within the next few days.
“I don’t think our soldiers should be there for the next 50 years guarding a border between Turkey and Syria when we can’t guard our own borders at home,” said President Trump.
Recent reports claimed the president’s decision to withdraw from Syria would hand the war-torn country over to Russia and its allies. Peacekeeping efforts in Syria have become increasingly costly for all those involved, including the U.S. Moscow is trying to limit its own military involvement by seeking a negotiated solution between Ankara and the Kurds. read more
