Menopause The Musical

Songs about menopause set to classic tunes?

Pinch me!

Why is every aspect of a woman’s private experiences turned into “entertainment”?

Pap Smear – A Rock Opera

Men don’t insist on this stuff.

Erectile Dysfunction- a No Act Play!! will not be opening any time soon.

  1. “Multiple Orgasms” or “Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady”

The one place where women get more than men for the same job.

  2. As it turns out, I was experiencing the “Big M” when we saw this play with friends. Despite the subject’s potential for ridicule, it is really a very well done musical/play. Taking well-known tunes and turning them into songs about the worst symptoms of menopause was very clever: “I’m having a heat wave..” (sung to the tune of Tropical Heatwave), for example. The only thing I objected to and didn’t participate in was the finale when they wanted all us women to join them on the stage. No way. Every woman in the world will experience menopause to greater or lesser degrees. It’s NOT funny to discover your eyelids sweat, but if there was something to make me laugh about it, I was for it.

    My 2 cents worth.

  3. ‘DOUCHE is the word, is the word that you heard
It’s got groove it’s got meaning
DOUCHE is the time, is the place is the motion
DOUCHE is the way we are feeling…’
    Apologies to Frankie Valli

  4. Really, it is very funny, and even men with wives in this age group can relate to it. I don’t recall it having any feminist edge to it. It was just about how crazy women can be. My husband and brother were rolling in the aisles with laughter. (And so were my sister-in-law and me.)

  5. I will trust the ladies of iOTW that Menopause, The Musical, was funny.
But you have to trust me on this one, 4 Hour Erection- The ROCK Opera, was tough to sit through.

“Men”… with “wives”… who go to see musicals… with their “spouse”… never face the prospect of an odd number of them experiencing menopause.

    > Coming soon: Premature Ejaculation the Musical.

    “Premature Ejaculation: The Prelude”

  8. @AbigailAdams – I agree. I saw this in Atlanta about 15 years ago and it was very clever and enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting to like it but it really had me laughing.
