Zero Hedge
Authored by Sheramy Tsai via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),
The scale doesn’t lie—but it doesn’t tell the whole story.
You might be eating better, exercising more, and still seeing the same number each morning. It’s frustrating, discouraging, and, as it turns out, possibly misleading.
For decades, weight has been treated as a primary marker of health. But a number on the scale says little about inflammation, cardiovascular risk, or metabolic dysfunction—factors that often shift before any visible weight loss appears.
That’s why more people are turning to at-home biomarker testing—health tracking that looks beneath the surface, revealing internal changes long before they’re visible in the mirror or on the scale.
Colin Godby, an engineer and father of two, tested his blood out of curiosity, not concern. What he found was unexpected—and alarming.
The at-home test revealed that Godby had hereditary hemochromatosis, a genetic condition that causes iron to accumulate in the body. Left untreated, it can lead to liver disease, heart problems, and other complications. It was a diagnosis standard labs hadn’t caught—and likely wouldn’t have:

If you enjoy doom porn, look no further than Zero Hedge. I check them often for what sources are driving political, economic and societal hand wringing and vaporing on the interwebz.
They seldom disappoint.
I’ve sort of been doing this for years. I ask my doctor to add a few extra tests (e.g. vitamin D) to my periodic test panels. We get to look at and discuss the extra stuff, and my Medicare/supplemental seems happy to pick up the tab.
I still giggle at the fact that they send out giant boxes that contain a tiny container that you have to smear poop in and then mail it back.
They used to arrest people for that. LOL
I filed a complaint against a doctor years ago because she did an A1c
test in the office and did NOT tell me up front she was going to do the test and then charge $220 for it.
The test was from an A1c test kit from Walmart, (FROM WALMART) that had 2 units in it, for $40.
I sent a letter to her office, and whatever BigHospital she worked under, and said that if I got another bill, I would test them with some lawyers (state and federal).
Never got another bill again.
Point is, it’s 30 to 60 for a box of two tests. You can read it yourself. You don’t need a degree, and it’s instant.
Why is some two-bit skank in a white coat and or her overlords charging people $220 for the same?!
If you haven’t noticed, I’m still pissed off about it. LOL.

“I still giggle at the fact that they send out giant boxes that contain a tiny container that you have to smear poop in and then mail it back.”
…aaaand, its meaningless.
From their own site;
“Cologuard results should be interpreted with caution. A positive test result does not confirm the presence of cancer. Patients with a positive test result should be referred for colonoscopy.
A negative test result does not confirm the absence of cancer. Patients with a negative test result should discuss with their healthcare provider when they need to be tested again.
False positives and false negatives can occur. It is important to talk to your doctor about your test results.”
https://www.cologuard.com/risk-information
…so the test may be wrong, or it may be right. Either way, you need a doctor to REtest you because “False positives and false negatives can occur.”
…so the *ONLY* things you know for SURE with this test is that it cost you money, made you play with your own poop, and wasted your time because after all is said and done, you know no more for sure AFTER the test than when you started…
Interestingly, we have become a society obessessed with all kinds of self-conscious, self-absorbed medical testing.
Part of this is because the government reimburses Medicare insurance companies with a commission for everything they can push and pay for. (Ditto all kinds of pharmaceuticals.)
Meanwhile, drug companies focus more and more on “treatments” — many of them close to useless, and many with all kinds of iatrogenic effects, and less and less on cures. And, of course, on marketing. To the point that most people over 65 take multiple drugs (all with side effects), and far too many younger people also are on “medications”.
And with all of this, life spans are going down, and the population just keeps getting sicker, both physically and mentally. (And fatter.) (And less happy.)
MJA, you made me remember the doctor I worked for in the 70s. He specialized in breathing issues and would give a peak flow meter test to patients who had trouble breathing. He charged nothing for the test even though the sterile non-reusable mouthpiece cost $3 each.
He argued with me (I was office manager and paid the bills!) that it was a simple test. I argued back that he went to medical school for 6 years and paid all that money for schooling to learn how to interpret the results of the test.
He finally gave in and charged $2. From then on, he called me his boss.
I loved that job and he was a terrific doctor!
Commiefornia banned home testing years ago. Gotta keep those doctors and hospitals rich.
SIMPLE REMINDER: ALWAYS KEEP SMALL CLAIMS COURT IN YOUR BACK POCKET
THEY DON’T LIKE HAVING TO DEAL WITH THAT NUISANCE

…Coof was the pinnacle of this. Taking an inaccurate test when youre not sick for a disease you dont know you have unless the inaccurate test says you do.
