Neil deGrasse Tyson gets slammed on Twitter… by the left

Celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is facing backlash from rock band Smash Mouth and gun control advocates after he took to Twitter to compare the number of deaths from the latest mass shootings to that of other causes, such as medical errors and suicide.

“In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings. On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose…500 to Medical errors, 300 to the Flu, 250 to Suicide, 200 to Car Accidents, 40 to Homicide via Handgun,” Tyson said after the deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. “Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data.” more

  1. Huh. A reasonable and topical tweet from Tyson. Pleasant surprise.

Unpleasant, but no surprise, is the deranged backlash, driving home the painful point that it ain’t about facts, it’s about feelz.

Note to Smash Mouth: FUCK YOUR FEELZ!

  2. where the ‘Progressives’ are concerned, shining the light of truth is like a Cross to Dracula

  3. You know one thing that really has me pissed off is medical errors! I damn near lost my brother this year to a botched liver biopsy. Not only was it poorly performed but the hospital that did it wouldn’t acknowledge the problem until it was impossible to hide. Liberal, arrogant doctors and their willingness to prescribe invasive procedures, and harmful drugs are every bit the threat that these useless, parasite kids with guns are.

  4. An on-line friend of mine died a few days ago. He had been having trouble breathing and had been trying to have doctors figure out the problem for at least a couple of years. In June they finally told him that he had stage 4 lung cancer. What the f**k took them so long?

  5. He’s an idiot who accidentally brain farted a logical thought. What he probably was going for was virtue signaling criticism of gun control and healthcare – went over leftards empty heads, it backfired. Also, the dope was trying to be super “science” guy withoit considering logic has nothing to do with being a leftist tool.

“You know one thing that really has me pissed off is medical errors!”

…but they’re very common and have been since the beginning of medicine, so much so they have a 2 doller Latinite name…

“Iatrogenic: Due to the activity of a physician or therapy. For example, an iatrogenic illness is an illness that is caused by a medication or physician.”

…and it has a companion, where the hospital itself makes you sick…

“Nosocomial: Originating or taking place in a hospital, acquired in a hospital, especially in reference to an infection.”

..every doctor has accidentlly hastened the death of someone. Every hospital has accidentally caused the death of someone just because they were there. They call it “medical ARTS” and “medical PRACTICE” because it’s NOT an EXACT science, and doctors must learn by trial and error…

…all in all, hospitals are places to avoid, post-Obamacare the moreso.

…you’re better off praying to the ULTIMATE physician anyway, He made you so He can fix you, with no extra damage or illness…

  7. Perhaps de Grasse Tyson is slowly coming around to being a Conservative… he got railroaded by some women, who accused him of sexual misconduct.

de Grasse Tyson was eventually cleared of the charges … is he finally becoming aware and ‘woke’ to the dangers of the real neo-Nazis in our midst?

  8. We had a saying where I used to work that doctors have a license to “practice” medicine. They never have to be good at it.

  9. Smash Mouth? Don’t they have ONE song that occasionally plays on the MOLDY OLDIES stations? I think they need attention again.

RadioMattM have you ever heard of them? 🙂
