Networks Call For Replacing Nielsen Ratings System

The nation’s big TV companies are calling for a new yardstick.

A trade organization representing Disney, ViacomCBS, NBCUniversal, Fox Corp. and other media giants is calling for the organization that signs off on Nielsen’s methodology for measuring TV viewership to yank accreditation, an aggressive maneuver in an era when media outlets and the advertisers who support them are scrambling to figure out how to count viewer eyeballs across an increasingly unwieldy array of new entertainment venues, digital behaviors and screens.

The trade group, the VAB, on Wednesday sent a ten-page letter to the Media Rating Council urging the group to pull its backing of Nielsen’s ratings, citing Nielsen’s diminished ability to count viewership during the coronavirus pandemic. More

  1. Who the hell even watches broadcast TV these days?

I haven’t had a TV with cable or antenna since about 1998.

Jennifer and I were watching TV back there in 1998, and old console CRT, and it blew up. We looked at one another, and nothing was said but, “This is a bit heavy…”

It went to the dump. We never watched broadcast again. And we never had cable.

  2. There’s only one reason I see they would do this. To fool advertisers. Which means their woke shit ain’t selling and they’re running out of Chinese money. Hardest hit, Disney and those losers at ESPN.

  3. The networks ARE the new rating system. They tell us what we want to see on the TeeVee whether we like it or not. And now they are bitching cause they cant monetize anymore what they broke in the first place? Lol

  4. “The nation’s big TV companies are calling for a new yardstick.”

…because like all Democrats they HATE any truth that does’t tell the story THEY want to tell, easier to muzzle the truth than admit they’re wrong…

  5. Some sort of micrometer? 🤔

It might still NOT be able to measure, how LITTLE I care about the networks, or their ratings.

  6. When Nielsen rated Emhoff a 10, they lost all credibility.

(yes, I know I keep harping on how ugly she is, but that earlier picture of her in that red knitted thing was especially fugly. I might have nightmares tonight).

  7. How else will they keep the propaganda flowing if they don’t also control the ratings? Me: How am I doing? Me too: You’re killing it man, keep up the good work.

    Fox, meet hen house.

  8. The lame stream media just doesn’t get it. People want to be entertained, not preached to. Streaming services without the commercials are also kicking their asses.

  9. Those ratings HAVE been dumped and kicked into the cable-broadcast dung heap by former viewers and replaced with smart tv video stream and cd’s.

  10. “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute.”

  11. Control the message and fool the sheep. Just like Washington politics. They’re having trouble with free thinkers that can smell the BS gushing out of the seams.
