NYC Builds 1,000-Bed Makeshift Coronavirus Hospital at Javits Center

Breitbart: As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, New York state is mobilizing to build eight temporary hospitals to care for the surge of patients, including a 1,000-bed makeshift hospital at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan built with the help of the New York National Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

New York has emerged as the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States with more than 44,600 confirmed COVID-19 cases state-wide, of which more than 25,000 are from New York City. Those numbers amount to a 7,300 increase in confirmed cases in the past 24 hours. In total, 519 New Yorkers have died from the virus.

On Friday, there were 6,481 patients hospitalized in New York state, an increase of 20 percent from the numbers the day before and double what it had been three days earlier. Of those patients, 1,583 were in intensive number and over 2,000 had been discharged, the New York Times reports.

The Times also reports, that over “62,000 medical workers, many of them retired, have volunteered to help stem the crisis. Almost 10,100 mental health professionals have also stepped forward to treat New Yorkers coping with the effects of being isolated.”

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called for 4,000 more temporary beds across New York City, where the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center has already been converted into a hospital. read more

  1. …guess it’s a good use for a convention center in New York, not like anyone in their right mind would ever want to do business there again anyway…

  2. The democrats and the media have shut down the economy. The economy is what keeps people alive. Not the govt.
And when this devolves into a nightmare of social and civil unrest, as it is guaranteed to do with a sustained shutdown, the same people who demanded a shutdown will claim all the problems are Trump’s fault.

That’s my prediction and i’m pretty confident of it.

  3. I remember once we had to drain the House swimming pool to do a thorough cleaning.
Which we did. After cleaning we re-filled it (of course) with city water that runs about 48 F. We cranked up the steam heat to bring it to its operating temp. of about 82 F but that takes it about a day to get to temp (lotta water).
Anyhow, Javits was a Senator who enjoyed the House pool (for some unknown reason) and had his own key and wasn’t aware it had been re-filled. He donned his trunks and leapt into the pool – damned near had a heart attack.
The Plumbers were under a cloud for a few days after that.

  4. How are “confirmed” case numbers determined?

Are they actually tested and have a positive result for coronavirus or are there other ways of confirming them other than actual medical lab tests?

I have to ask because I don’t have a lot of faith in the statistics and numbers being given, I know some official government stats for the number of cases includes untested patients that were simply declared to have it by a doctor and some even include those in close contact with patients that were actually tested as positive without actually tested themselves even though they weren’t showing obvious symptoms of the virus.

Does anyone know how NYC determines their confirmed case count?

  5. The next headline will be about how the 1000-bed makeshift hospital has no respirators because DJT, when Cuomo has them sitting in a basement somewhere.

Anyone besides me find it peculiar that most of the case graphs and raw numbers do not include recoveries? Notice how Johns Hopkins map no longer graphs recoveries and doesn’t even mention them in the per state/county detail? And you’ve got standard scale graphs for active cases, but logarithmic for deaths. Sometimes over layed so the deaths look a lot worse than even the active cases. Poke around on fake news sites for their own in-house created graphs and you’ll see what I mean. I pointed this out on some reddit forums that pimp these graphs and liberal heads exploded. If you want to lose faith in humanity, check out some of those reddit corona forums.

  6. How about every time the number of dead Wuhan Flu victims is shown we get a number for those who died of heart attack, regular flu, and auto accidents over the same period?
Sort of: “Keep it in Perspective.” (I know “perspective” is an artistic term which has nothing to do with statistics – but I couldn’t think of anything better)

  7. When warned of the coming outbreak, the NYC politicians
scoffingly announced it as “racist” and told everyone
to attend the huge Chinese New Years festival in the city.
Thousands did. Many of them are now ill and have spread their disease to many thousands of others.
You danced with the PC devil and you are paying for it.
Pardon my inability to feel sorry for NYC. (Not)

  8. Have the given credit to Slow Joe for suggesting the Javits center? Even though it was already rumored to be in the works when he suggested it. Just like all his other Corona virus “solutions”.

  9. Hopefully the patients will be too sick to cannibalize anybody, like what happened in the Superdome. I can never forget what I saw there.

  10. According to Worldometer:

10,179,486 babies aborted this year (this stat is going up every second)
74,026 Mothers died in childbirth this year
402,615 Died from HIV/Aids this year
1,967,004 Died from cancer this year (this stat is going up about every 5 seconds)
    234,924 malaria deaths
    256,831 suicides
323,306 died in road traffic accidents
    116,431 seasonal flu deaths

    28,812 Kung Flu deaths

  11. Anon, they claim they’re positive tests. Who the hell knows though and who the hell knows if any county, state or federal government can be trusted to tell the truth.
Yeah, I’ve seen a few stories from family members saying their family died from it, even found someone I know personally who knew one who died, but just because he died doesn’t mean he didn’t also have the flu or even was confirmed with having it. Even his family said they never showed them the test results, just that he tested positive.

What I do know even if you take government’s word with confirmed Kung Flu and seasonal flu cases, deaths from confirmed flu are higher than Kung Flu. That’s why they do all those estimates on flu deaths and they gloss over confirmed, but now they want you to compare confirmed Kung Flu cases and deaths to estimated flu cases and deaths.
