Sidney Lumet’s daughter, Jenny Lumet, published her account of her rape at the hands of Russell Simmons.
Get a load of this pant load-
There is so much guilt, and so much shame. There is an excruciating internal reckoning. As a woman of color, I cannot express how wrenching it is to write this about a successful man of color. Again, shame about who I was years ago, choices made years ago.
What the hell is that????
Here, let me rewrite it as if it is the fictional account of Taylor Swift’s fictional rape at the hands of, I dunno, Jeff Foxworthy.
There is so much guilt, and so much shame. There is an excruciating internal reckoning. As a white woman, I cannot express how wrenching it is to write this about a successful white man. Again, shame about who I was years ago, choices made years ago.
We are supposedly in an important era of a great purge of a “toxic masculinity” mindset.
When do we get to the great purging of the toxic identity politics mindset?
Nobody sees color until they choose to see color. Depending on who you are, when you you see it, or don’t see it, you’re called a racist. And those racists are almost 100% of the time white people.
Meanwhile, Jenny’s post is being praised, even though it implies that there would be no hesitation had her rapist been anyone other than a black guy… a successful black guy. Poor black guys beware, there will be no hesitation to report you if you rape Jenny. Black mogul rapists, however, causes a moral dilemma.
