‘Pioneer Women’ – IOTW Report

  1. Sorry to sound so callous but it seems the ‘powers-that-be’ have been redirecting the ‘American Dream’, the enjoyment of simple living, the ability to laugh at ourselves, taking enjoyment from the simple things in life.

I believe it started shortly after WWII.

THEY want total control and that DOES NOT include any sort of happiness simply because that doesn’t fit their narrative of being constantly ruled over.

  2. In 2020 I began baking sourdough for fun. I friend wanted to try it also so I gave her some starter and explained how to feed it. At a later date I would walk her through making the bread. Anyway, about a week of feeding her starter she called and said, ”I have about a gallon bucket of this starter!”

Lol, she was doubling it each time, instead of discarding the excess.

  3. @mmm — Haha! An experienced baker friend gave me some of her starter and I killed it off in about a week. Sourdough starter and houseplants — I keeel them. Too much of something, not enough of something else. I have no patience for these things.

  4. …one of my favorite movie scenes is Kathryn Hepburn in “Woman Of The Year” where she’s trying to demonstrate being domestic to Tracy. She makes his favorite waffles. She mistakenly puts a huge square of yeast in the batter.

(I always thought it was weird a man living by himself would have a whole bowl of huge yeast squares in his ‘fridge.)

  5. Somehow reminds me of when my brother made spaghetti sauce and confused “clove” with “bulb”. Best part is I haven’t had to worry about vampires since.
