Pope Leo XIV Supports Open Borders — Previously Took Aim at VP J.D. Vance for Defending American Sovereignty

Gateway Pundit: Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost—now Pope Leo XIV—was elected the 267th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, becoming the first pope from the United States.

Robert Francis Prevost was elevated to the rank of cardinal on September 30, 2023, by Pope Francis during a consistory held at the Vatican. He was assigned the title of Cardinal-Deacon of Santa Monica degli Agostiniani.

While the corporate media hails Leo XIV as a centrist, a deeper dive into his public statements and social media activity reveals a different story: this pope is unabashedly pro-open borders and has openly criticized conservative leaders—most notably, Vice President J.D. Vance—for standing up for American sovereignty.

A review of Leo XIV’s X, account shows a pattern of left-leaning political advocacy. On February 3, he shared an article from the far-left National Catholic Reporter titled, “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others”—a clear jab at Vance’s call for immigration policies that prioritize American citizens. more

Good point. I’ve been there. The security is massive. They have their own army.
That should be his first command as Pope – open the Vatican’s borders.

  2. Vatican City is surrounded by a wall built back in the 9th century to protect it from barbarians and pirates.

I say open borders would be lovely for the Vatican – lead by example, why don’t you Pope Leo!

And – Wow he was only made a cardinal less than 2 years ago. Being from Chicago, he probably brought a suitcase of mail in ballots with him – the conclave was over fairly quickly.

  3. Supporting open borders is not a good barometer, ALL popes support this, or at least the notion that the poor of the world would be better off coming here and having their lives improve off the backs of American taxpayers.

    Here is the opinion of one Catholic I respect;

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Let’s hear his positions on the social issue of our times; homosexuality, abortion, transsexuality, marriage, degeneracy, supporting the patriarchal traditions of the church, and adhering to the objective Christian moral standards that God has commanded of us.

At first blush, after watching your video, I’m getting the sense that this new pontiff is all about “Liberation Theology” a theory that further separates the Church from It’s traditional roots. A Theology that further fragments The Church, which is indeed the devil’s plan.

  5. They give up their worldly possessions to live in a gilded palace. Just like Jesus and Peter did not.

Okay I’m not Catholic. So to me the entire Pope thing looks like a hierarchal holdover from the power-mongering medieval European days after the Roman Catholic Church split from the Orthodox Churches, then co-ruled over the feudal peasants with the various monarchs, and came up with ideas (e.g., priest celibacy to gain their inheritances when they did without heirs, money indulgences, etc.) to gain wealth and power. Right back to what the Sadducees and Pharisees did that Jesus criticized.

  6. The last Pope was an obama clone, and just as big of a destrutive asshole. Let’s see if this new Pope continues the destruction of the Catholic Church, or goes John Paul II.

  7. “Supporting open borders is not a good barometer, ALL popes support this …”
    EXCEPT at the Vatican.
Those who support “open borders” are screaming hypocrites.
I am Catholic but I do NOT support hypocrisy, pedophilia, pederasty, or living off the sweat of peons.

“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
    (Matthew 22:21, Mark 12:17, Luke 20:25)

“Liberation Theology” is anathematic to Christianity – a heresy – an apostasy.

A priest, any priest, preacher, pontiff, bishop, archbishop, cardinal, tv evangelist, or any other so-called Christian teacher/preacher who blathers such bullshit purportedly in the name of God is committing a grave error.
They should concern themselves with things spiritual and leave things temporal to the politicians. This is not to imply that they should not feed the hungry, heal the sick, and comfort those in prison – on their own dime.

May God have mercy on their souls.
