Pro-Palestine Protesters March Through London Waving Iranian Flags

Daily Skeptic-

Pro-Palestine protesters marched through London on Saturday waving Iranian flags and chanting “stop bombing Iran”. The Telegraph has more.

Large crowds gathered in Parliament Square waving Palestinian and Iranian flags, while also demanding an end to the bombing in Gaza.

Protesters urged the Government to halt all military support for Israel and lobby the country to de-escalate its actions in the Middle East.

It comes after Israel launched a series of air strikes against nuclear and military sites in Iran on Thursday night.

Tehran then struck back on Friday with missile attacks on Tel Aviv.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign announced an emergency protest earlier in the week which it publicised on social media, titled: ‘Emergency Protest: Stop Bombing Iran – Stop Arming Israel.’

In a post on X, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign shared a video which showed a large crowd chanting outside the houses of Parliament. more

  1. I’d be OK with the UK govt urging Israel to stop bombing Iran but only if instead Israel started bombing the UK headquarters of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

I can think of a few other places in the UK to bomb, but lets start with that one.

p.s. I can’t imagine that the UK govt urging the Israelis to do or not do anything at all would have the slightest effect on them, and rightly so.

  2. As younger people we always marveled at all the history to which our grandparents bore witness.

I’ve never been to England except to connect to flights to other European countries, so my ‘memories’ of Jolly Old England will always be just that. I’m satisfied to leave my images of them there: Shakespeare and his theater, Dickens’ Christmas, Harriet’s Yorkshire, four lads from Liverpool, 1970s Piccadilly, a deep yearning to spend a day at Harrods, and images of a truly war-torn people who came back from the brink of annihilation (only to vote in those who would spell their eventual demise).

England swings like a pendulum do. I hope that still holds true.

  3. AA – As younger people we always marveled at all the history to which our grandparents bore witness.

My Grandfather was born in the 19th Century and lived almost 100 years and remained sharp throughout. He actually continued working up until a few years before passing. He witnessed all the developments and wars in the 20th century. I remember in the 70s when I was teenager asking him what he thought about going from horses to the moon and everything in between during his lifetime. He thought it was great. No mystery about it, he just loved it and told some great stories about the times. Now that I’m older I tend to think about and study history more and more… probably because I am becoming history!

  4. So many helicopters. So much open water in the surrounding ocean. So many assholes with dubious swimming skills. It’s just a lost opportunity not being leveraged as it should be.
