Republican Iowa governor challenges authority of city governments to mandate face coverings

Wa Ex: The governor of Iowa says she won’t allow cities in her state to mandate mask-wearing because they do not possess the authority to do so.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds said city governments cannot implement such orders because they conflict with her public health disaster proclamation.

“We don’t believe that they can, and that is in conjunction with the attorney general,” she said. “We believe that when my — the public health disaster proclamation is in effect, unless the local government’s declaration or proclamation is consistent with the state proclamation, unless it’s consistent, then it’s not appropriate, or it doesn’t go into effect.” more here

  3. Don’t mess with Big Corn.

Is Iowa going back to being Republican? I haven’t been there since 1969. 🙂

  4. Although virus infections are way up, deaths are way down. Sunday night news here in Nebraska there were 0 covid deaths and 1 in Iowa. So nobody died in 24 hours, or nobody that added to the statistics?

  5. Sounds great. But I’d probably say, “…unless the local government’s declaration or proclamation is consistent with the state proclamation, unless it’s consistent, then it’s not *Constitutional* and it doesn’t go into effect.”

    To hell with “appropriate”.

And good to see Iowa doesn’t have a Soros-bought AG.
