Romania’s centrist Bucharest mayor, Nicusor Dan, appeared on course to win Romanian presidency on Sunday in an election closely watched across Europe amid a rise of support for U.S. President Donald Trump.
Exit polls showed Dan at 54-55% of ballots following a last-minute dash to the top after weeks of trailing George Simion, a hard-right supporter of Trump and a eurosceptic wanting to end military aid for Ukraine.
Dan had campaigned on a pledge to fight rampant corruption and to keep Romania firmly within the European mainstream. More

Another county where no one will believe anything the government says nor does. Once a government does this, it’s announcing that it owns you, just like our government did to us decades ago.
Good thing the “centrist” “won”, because then they would have to do a do over again, and again, and again until the EU finally “get” the guy they want.
Romanians had to shoot their last oppressor. They know how to do it, and they should do it again.
