I lived in Cali for 10 years before I figured out that Cinco de Mayo was always on the 5th of May. Yeah, I took German in HS.
To be perfectly frank, I have lived in Texas for 20 years now, and I have eaten Tex-Mex fajitas and gotten drunk on margaritas every single one of those years.
I have never encountered any Mexicans celebrating the holiday …except -perhaps- my waiter.
