Should You Enroll In ObamaCare? Buyer beware!

ONN: Those who want or need health insurance next year still have time to enroll in an Obamacare plan, but there are a number of critics who believe that Americans should not sign up.

The enrollment period that began last month on November 1 runs through Saturday, December 15, and only those who qualify for a Special Enrollment Period will be able to get coverage beyond this deadline.

“After you fill out an application with the Health Insurance Marketplace and provide household and income information, you’ll find out if you qualify for a premium tax credit that lowers your monthly health insurance bill,”
Healthcare.gov informs.

While a majority of people who have enrolled over the years did qualify for a tax credit of some sort, Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF) has created a list of 10 reasons why people should not enroll, with one reason being “compromised privacy.”

CCHF’s Twila Brase wants Americans to know that they will sacrifice some of their privacy by getting their health care through the government.

“Every time you have a government program, the government has to collect data from it – and so people should not be thinking that privacy comes in any government program,” Brase stressed. “The bigger the government programs get, the more people have their privacy in a government database there to be accessed, shared and used for purposes for which the individual is unaware.”

Brase also noted that under the Affordable Care Act’s “value-based purchasing” model, doctors will be paid for value – not for actual services given.

“Thus, doctors may have to comply with one-size-fits-all treatment protocols, accept outsider definitions of ‘value,’ focus on population health instead of patients or agree to participate in ethically challenged ‘team-based care’ – where clinic staff are allowed to follow computer-based treatment protocols leaving patients at the mercy of non-physicians … and in the dark about who’s actually responsible for their care,” Brase informed.  more here

  1. Barkey should be forced to enroll in his own crock program. And they have a full cost of everything. If it’s good enough for American citizens, Kenyan’s should be able to qualify!

  2. A visit with my PCP involves the doc with a computer and a nurse with a computer in the same room as me. I just sit there while they do computer things back and forth. Sometimes they can’t find the latest lab results or a report from another doc. obamacare required e-records, where your info is not safe, and it takes two people on computers to take notes.

I’m looking forward to Medicare, it can’t be worse.

  3. Zonga, that has been my experience, too. Why do we even need to show up if the entire visit consists of a doctor or nurse checking boxes on a computer screen? Why don’t we just login from home and check the boxes for them?

  4. This article is not accurate. There ARE great health plans other than Obamacare – and no penalty.
Why are they leaving this info out of this article? Think they have a motive?

  7. You know what? I couldn’t afford his “affordable care”. $3,000 a month with a $15,000 deductible. I went without for awhile and then signed up for Medi-Share, the Christian-based alternative. It isn’t insurance, but if something catastrophic happens they’ll pay 100% of my bills and my deductible is only $5,000. My monthly paymnent is about $300.
