  1. Mr Rescorla was also one of the men in the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965, described in the book We Were Soldiers Once and Young. He is the soldier on the front cover of the original printing.

    “Co-author Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore described him as “the best platoon leader I ever saw”. Rescorla’s men nicknamed him “Hard Core” for his bravery in battle and revered him for his good humor and compassion towards his men.”

  3. Some men are born fearless warriors. I’m not one, but I respect those who are beyond words. 9/11 gave Rick Rescorla the chance to die the hero’s death he didn’t have in Vietnam.

    RIP, Rick. If there’s a Valhalla, I know you’ll be there.
