That is, according to a recent study conducted by Brigham Young University researchers in collaboration with several researchers from Germany-based institutions.
The study, which analyzed data from over half a million people across multiple continents, found that sugar consumed through drinks, such as soda and juice, was consistently linked to a higher risk of Type 2 diabetes. Sugar from other sources reportedly showed no such link or were, in some cases, associated with a lower risk of diabetes. More
Well, then, no problem in the U.S.! I doubt that even 1% of sweetened drinks here are sweetened with sugar. Almost all of it is glopped up with HFCS, high fructose corn syrup.
Maybe that’s what the article was referring to, and it came close but failed. I guess it was too much to ask that the writer be knowledgeable and specific.
I don’t drink that soda pop stuff but instead get most of my liquid calories from ethyl alcohol in the form of Bulleit Rye whiskey.
WHAT’S BETTER FOR YOU??
SIXPACK OF REGULAR COKE OR SIXPACK OF REGULAR COORS??

*^^^^The beer. And sports drinks are pure poison and dangerous

“Drinking your sugar MAY BE worse for you than previously thought.”
Correlation is not causation, and studies like these aren’t proof of anything.
“And sports drinks are pure poison and dangerous”
The original Gatorade: water, sucrose (table sugar), dextrose, citric acid, natural flavor, sodium chloride (table salt), sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, and flavoring/coloring. Maybe not something your mom would whip up but probably a lot safer than what’s in those Gatorade bottles today.

Today’s “pre workout” drinks are off the charts dangerous. If you have a heart condition and don’t know about it, they’ll kill you.
What went wrong with all the Covid vaccine is safe studies that cluttered the internet ??
I got off sugared soda years ago, and got on diet soda. Bad, but not as bad.
A lot of times, it’s a genetic defect + not eating properly which triggers diabeetus II. Not because you’re fat as hell and /or eating sugar.
I was mid-twenties, 113 lbs, 5 foot 6, not a fan of sugar/junk food when I got the type 1. Genetic defect. And a couple of docs and nurses told me it may have been childhood vax related (aka chemical diabeetus).
I know/know of people who are reaching 220+ lbs (young and old) and have never had type 1 or 2.
Some of those who DO have it, may have been triggered by the other meds they are taking (chemical).
Or, let’s be honest, alcohol and drug use.
Point is, it ain’t always food or sugar. But how would they make money off you if they couldn’t sell you diet plans, pills, and prescriptions?
I swear, if I hear one more moron ask me if I have diabetes because I “ate too much candy,” I will push them down the stairs, drag them back up, and shove them down again. lol
i like this
reminds me of the guy cleaning the soda dispenser once a year… maybe. “you wont believe the amount of mold found in those dispensers”.
primary food source for molds and fungus is sugar whether its lactose, dextrose, fructose, glucose…. take your pick its all sugar. be aware and limit intake its in everything. if your older or compromised even more prudence. as a younger man i had a terrible ear condition. ear doc asked if i was drinking soda. “well, yeah. couple two or three a day”. advised to lay off the soda and sure as sh)t cleared up in a couple days. somehow a mold or fungus had got in my ear and was feeding off my sugar intake.

That sucks!
That’s why I clean my coffee maker all the time because I don’t need another encounter with green algae or whatever. Mr. Ninja caught me napping. lol
A friend of mine cleans soda cans and bottles before she even opens them. She said, “How do I know rats weren’t dragging their asses across them before I got the can?” 🤣
Good point.
Jpm- Yup. My immune system attacked my beta cells (Islets of Langerhans). That’s what I was told. The problem is, what triggered my immune system to do that?
That’s why the docs told me it could have been chemical/ childhood vax.
Same thing happening to others’ immunities with the covid shot right now. But you can’t convince some people. They have to go through the pain themselves.
Bad_Brad,
Agree 100%. I have still never even tried a Red Bull at 55yrs.
@ MJA I don’t open cans until I at least rinse them off real well. Been doing it a long time.
Wait! What?… 5’6″ 113?…….. Purrrfect!
“Agree 100%. I have still never even tried a Red Bull at 55yrs.”
If you need some special drink to get you up for a work out or an athletic event you’re probably wasting your time.
Brad, even worse. The only local saloon within 15 miles of me offers a double vodka, Red Bull. I can’t even imagine.

I got about a 150 different things that will most likely kill me in the next 10 to 15 years. If I can take steps to eliminate my heart from doing it I will. LOL. Might end up being the wife. And who could blame her?
I ignore any information on any topic that uses the words “may be” when describing it.
As a programmer I was drinking four or five cans of Mt. Dew every day, except when the workload and hours required a two-liter bottle every day. When I retired I stopped altogether. So far, no hints of diabetes.
I drank Red Bull once while driving and by the time I was headed back to Spokane after a day of delivering flowers I had the windows wide open on my van, had the radio cranked up to warp factor 9 and was slapping myself in the face to stay awake after the inevitable crash from drinking that awful tasting shit. Never again! And I haven’t drank a Big Gulp in years because it made me pee every ten to 15 minutes usually along the side of the road.
MJA makes a great point. Diabetes is primarily genetic as with high blood pressure or any chronic illness. It’s always better to consume natural sugars rather than processed sugar. That goes for everyone whether they have Diabetes or not.
