Three of the Most Beautiful Words in D.C.:”Reduction in Force”

Real Clear Politics

State Department employees already bracing for mass layoffs faced another blow Friday in the Supreme Court’s ruling that district courts cannot issue universal injunctions against President Trump’s policies.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other top agency officials have been gearing up to issue layoffs ahead of a self-imposed July 1 restructuring deadline, readying official “reduction in force” notices that could go out at any moment.

On the chopping block are the jobs of hundreds of Foreign Service officers currently stationed in D.C. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which designs and implements educational and professional exchange programs with other countries, is expected to be one of the hardest hit divisions with nearly 90 employees set to be fired, according to State Department sources. 2. Thanks to last week’s SCOTUS ruling I think we will see a LOT of fed layoffs, now that the activist judges have been forced off the playing field.

  3. I know a guy that was an AGR technician in an Air Guard unit. He had a military retirement when he was 39 at the E-8 rate. He got a work from home job with the State department. He sold his truck and house then had an estate sale. He bought a camper and has been on the road for 23 years doing that State Department job. He is eligible for retirement in the State Department. He will be there until they force him out. He admitted that he only works about one hour a day a few years back. He filled one of the boxes. He predominantly Irish but has a Sioux grandmother.
