President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday aimed at bolstering domestic prescription drug manufacturing and expediting the approval process for U.S. pharmaceutical plants, signaling a continued push to reduce America’s reliance on foreign drug imports.
Under the order, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is tasked with cutting unnecessary regulatory requirements, streamlining facility reviews, and working proactively with U.S.-based drugmakers to provide early guidance before production sites are operational, according to Fox Business.
“We don’t want to be buying our pharmaceuticals from other countries because if we’re in a war, we’re in a problem, we want to be able to make our own,” Trump said in a White House fact sheet. “As we invest in the future, we will permanently bring our medical supply chains back home. We will produce our medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and treatments right here in the United States.” more
I fully support this move even without the “war” explanation after decades of material adulteration issues.
I suppose it’s too much to hope that “domestic drug manufacturing” includes distilleries, breweries, and vineyards.

When they STOP MAKING POISON, then we can talk about making MORE.

This will only work if ALL of the ingredients for every drug is also manufactured in the US.
This is why “Made in the USA” label doesn’t work anymore. Too many products (including food) are allowed to be “assembled” in the USA using foreign ingredients.
Take our beef as an example. A foreign country could breed and raise a cow being fed using their grain or whatever. Then they ship the cows to the US where “ranchers” put them in a field where they are allowed to eat grass for 10 days. Now, they can put the beef on the grocery store shelves and label it as “grass fed beef”.
I want a federal law; any/all critical medications must be 100% sourced and manufactured in the USA.
