Trump takes action to lower prescription drug prices

JTN:

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order that seeks to lower prescription drug prices for Americans on Medicare, and low-income patients.

The order expands on the president’s efforts during his first term to lower prescription drug prices, including reauthorizing his order that drastically reduced out-of-pocket prices for insulin and EpiPens for low-income Americans.

This time, insulin prices will be lowered to as low as $0.03, plus a small administrative fee for low-income and uninsured Americans, and injectable epinephrine prices will be as low as $15, plus a small administrative fee. more here

SNIP: I pay out of pocket. No Medi-anything, no insurance. I always get the short end of the syringe.
We’ll see what happens in 180 days.

  1. President Trump needs to encourage our current pharmacy manufacturing plants that have minimal production to ramp up to full speed capacity. I have two relatives that work for a local pharmacy manufacturing plant that have plenty of unused lines. And there are many unemployed people who would love the jobs.

  2. Pharmaceuticals are a National Security Issue. Who the hell ever thought it was a good idea for one of our sworn enemies to manage our meds was out of his damned mind. I’ll trust Trump to get this fixed.

  3. “President Trump needs to force our current pharmacy manufacturing”

Sorry Claudia. But I had to fix it for you. These people have not one Patriotic bone in their bodies.

  4. No Brad, I don’t interpret THIS as protecting them, but this is just ANOTHER band-aid that does get to the root cause which is government protection of the drug cartel/bigPharma via the FDA, DEA, CDC, etc. In preventing a truly free market in medical choice including blocking others from being able to advertise and discuss alternatives, the government protects the cartels monopoly, ultimately allowing them to charge whatever they want. Add to that the presence of third party payers who are both mandated and protected by the government, professional licensure laws, and so, so, so much more and you have a system where the normal checks and balances of the free market are essentially destroyed by government on behalf of their western medical cartel benefactors.

  5. While unsure just how those stated prices were arrived at, there is the long-standing issue of some (many? most?) drugs being priced higher in the U.S. than other countries, regardless of country of origin. It would be nice to get that cleaned up.

And cash. Cash should be king for medical, and get the best rate, if for no other reason than the provider gets their payment immediately, not 30, 60, 90-days later.

  6. Ok, when will big Pharma be banned from advertising??

Cigarettes and alcohol have been banned from advertising on television.
Cigarettes and alcohol kill fewer Americans than Big Pharma.

  7. Unfortunately patriotism doesn’t feed the bulldog where massive greed, fraud and democRATz are involved. Jackass Joe and his Communists behind the scenes spent four years fueling, enabling and encouraging massive profits for big pharma to levels we’ve never seen before and the bigger the pie (read more and more designer drugs and TV ads) the more skim they can take. Patriotism flies out the window when the scales have been tipped over and thrown into the dumpster!

BTW wasn’t lower drug prices Jackass Joe’s claim to fame???
Like everything else that slack-jawed, drooling meatslapper lied thru his rotten teeth!
