‘US Steel will REMAIN in America’: Trump hails ‘partnership’ between US Steel, Nippon Steel

President Donald Trump announced on Friday evening that the headquarters of US Steel will remain in America after the Japan-based company Nippon Steel moved to purchase US Steel.

Trump posted to Truth Social, “I am proud to announce that, after much consideration and negotiation, US Steel will REMAIN in America, and keep its Headquarters in the Great City of Pittsburgh. For many years, the name, ‘United States Steel’ was synonymous with Greatness, and now, it will be again.” more

  1. @Zonga — Thanks for the steel article. It’s interesting that it did a decent job of an overview, AND piqued my curiosity to look into the many questions it raised and left unanswered. That may sound like a negative, but I don’t mean it that way.

  2. This is (more) good news! Our country is bereft of steel manufacturers, with the last, larger companies shutting down in the early 2000’s. We need the capability of domestic steel.

    Two uncles worked for a major steel plant here in Seattle. It started out as Seattle Steel at the turn of the 1900’s, then changed to Pacific Steel at some point, ending as a purchase to the Bethlehem company. It’s main operations were tucked away at the west end of the West Seattle bridge, way before that part of Seattle was inhabited by residents, and was an instrumental part of ship building in WWII.
