Post Millennial: In a controversial move aimed at combating the state’s worsening opioid crisis, a Washington Health Care Authority advisory group has recommended that the state consider supplying addictive drugs directly to users to reduce overdoses and provide a so-called “safer supply.”

The Substance Use Recovery Services Advisory Committee (SURSAC), established by the Legislature in 2021, released its latest recommendations to the public on June 13. Among the proposals: a “buyers club” model that would make Washington a distributor of hard drugs, such as fentanyl and methamphetamine, under controlled conditions. more

  8. A few of we deplorables here in sayWA constructed a thought pattern use case for state provision of dope to dopers. It involved intermittent hot loads, a transportation system and, not yet settled, either a co-gen power system or a fertilizer factory. I favor the fertilizer angle. We may as well make use of this human garbage as we feed it the dope it demands.

  9. I fully believe in self ownership, but stealing from everyone in society to hand out to others, including free drugs, is beyond immoral. Pathetic that both parties claim to support freedom in their own way, but can NEVER step back and keep government out of the way.

  11. I’d hate to be a Washington state taxpayer. Not only would you be paying taxes to buy drugs for addicts, the first time one of them overdoses, the state will be sued and have to pay out millions more in taxpayer dollars to the “family” of the deceased.

  13. Governor Ferguson seems to think that drug addicts, bums, vagrants, losers, parasites, and other democrats, from 49 other states are not going to flock to the state of Washington? Dumb ass. Oregon drastically reduced drug penalties. As predicted, that was a big mistake. Things got so bad even Oregon democrats voted to repeal the law. So, Ferguson is telling Oregon hold my beer?

  16. Let’s look at the bright side. WA will attract people from the rest of the country where we don’t want them. For me, every druggie in WA is a druggie not in FL.
