What a Difference an E makes

He was supposed to be doing naval research.

Drexel University professor spends ‘hundreds of thousands’ of dollars in research funds at local strip clubs.

Over a 10-year period, Chikaodinaka Nwankpa, the former head of Drexel University’s electrical engineering department, burned hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funds meant for energy, science and naval research. The $190,000 settlement, which must be paid by the university, will help the school stave off a lawsuit by the federal government.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Nwankpa filed suspicious reports listing expenses at gentlemen’s clubs such as Club Risque, Cheerleaders, and the Tacony Club. When confronted about the spending, he fessed up and agreed to pay $53,328 – far short of the total amount he spent.

A spokesperson for the federal government said Nwankpa’s spending spree was “a shameful misuse of public funds,” and didn’t rule out the possibility the 27-year Drexel employee could face criminal charges.

  1. I’m sure he delivered the desired results. Everybody except the gov’t knows that’s how gov’t grants work.

j/k, the gov’t knows it too.

  2. did you get that?
    he ‘might’ face charges.

if he would have said the word nigger, he’d be behind bars.

  3. Anyone associated with government views taxpayer money with all the responsibility and caution they would if it were monolopy money. It just doesn’t seem as real to them and especially because it’s not their money.

  4. What is the mindset of people like this, and how do they attain the positions that enable them to do this kind of thing?

  5. It’s a better use of the money than most federal grants. At least it went to hard-working women rather than feather-bedding “climate” researchers

  6. Fine, but what did his research discover? Y’all focus on money supposedly wasted, but I’m going to reserve judgment until I read the final research paper.

  8. Drexel was one of the colleges that accepted my application. Thank God I chose not to go to that Shoobie-infested shithole.

  9. Fortunately, college will soon be free, so professors won’t have to worry about running up a tab at the Jiggly Room.

Will all the jigglies, working “their way through college”, also be free?

  11. His research project is entitled, “The Art of the Steal” or “How do you peel” I forget which.

We talked about it a lot over lunch at his club.

  12. 10 years !
What the hell kind of accounting practices do they use at Drexel?
When I had a company card, if I had something dry cleaned, better be a good reason I used the card.
