Women Prefer The AR-15

WFB: In the aftermath of a recent Florida self-defense shooting, female gun owners argued that the AR-15 provides specific advantages to women for home defense, vehemently rejecting the views of gun-control activists who insist the firearm is unnecessary.

Speaking with the Washington Free Beacon on Friday, five female firearm owners and advocates said the AR-15 platform offers several features that are ideal for women specifically. Robyn M. Sandoval, executive director of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, said the rifle is both more effective and safer for female shooters.

“ARs are an excellent choice for women for home defense,” Sandoval told the Free Beacon. “The platform is relatively lightweight and easy to hold and customize so that the firearm fits her body correctly. Having a rifle that is the right size for the shooter makes it more comfortable to shoot and therefore more accurate and safer.” read more

  1. Me and my boy watched “Baby Driver” last night. Really liked it. Kevin Spacy at one point used a Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Let me tell you it was effective against bad guys even with bullet proof vests.

Quite the add for a pump short barrel shot gun.

  2. Of course the AR-15 is an excellent choice. It was designed specifically for civilian use. Unlike shotguns and pistols that are used on every battlefield everywhere.

  3. I have a picture of my then 16 year boy and 12 year daughter, standing in front of the Christmas tree.

The boy is holding a 20″ barrel AR-10 and the girl is holding an M4 styled AR-15.

If you could see how well that AR-15 fits a 12 year old girl, it’s no wonder women like them.

  4. I have no doubt that when a woman goes to the range and puts on her ear muffins, she can plink some cans with her AR15. But as for walking around a corner inside her house, I question an AR15 as a choice. While I used to think that the Mossberg 500 would be over kill, even as a 20 gauge, after last night’s movie I have changed my mind. I still think that a Sig Sauer auto pistol as a .357 is the ultimate in home weapon. you can get almost 1600 fps with it. Very formidable stopping power.

And Kevin Spacey played his House of Cards character in Baby Driver but in the private sector as a gangster. It was quite a good movie.

    > Can you get an AR-15 with a magazine that will hold 100 clips?

Joe, you just need 1, with a clip to hold the magazine. There’s readin’ to do.

  6. I didn’t get to watch that whole video clip yet. It did show you how to cradle the stock in your arm instead of your shoulder but again, try walking around a corner. The gun will still be pointed up. not so with a pistol, not so with the Mossberg pistol grip. And inside the house, in tight quarters, that is the most likely home defense scene.

Just sayin. Nothing against the AR.

  7. I went to the range two days ago and fired seven rounds of .375 Ruger through my new rifle. Thank God that’s all it took to get the scope sighted in because that’s all my shoulder could stand. You can shoot an AR all day with no effect.

  8. Women shouldn’t use any gun to “clear” their house.
They should have warning/defense in depth with lights
and alarms. These are now cheap and easy to use.
If unable to safely exit the premises they should be
behind cover, and be concealed if possible, along with
a cell phone talking to 911 while covering the only
way the bad guy(s) can approach with as much firepower
as can be safely handled. Training and preperation are key.
