ABC: A weekend outing to the Northern California woods took a horrific turn for two brothers when a mountain lion attacked them, killing one and leaving the other with traumatic injuries to the face, authorities said.
This was the first fatal attack by a cougar in the state in 20 years, California officials said. more
Wife’s cousin has a cattle ranch in the Shingle Springs area. With the encroachment of the suburbs, I’m not surprised this happened.
This is where TV and movies have warped our perception of reality.
“Look! A mountain lion! Cool! He’s soooo cute! Just like in the movies!”
“Here kitty, kitty….whoops!”
Yeah, we’re top of the food chain only at McDonald’s. Elsewhere, we’re on the menu.
So, if they can track and blast a mountain lion for killing one person, why dont they do this in LA for feral ‘utes’?
I’ve seen at least 3 cougars while out driving, once N. of Libby, Montana on the hwy. between Libby and Eureka, Mt. crossing the hwy. and down towards Lake Koocanusa. Another time on hwy. 2 heading West between Libby and Bonners Ferry, Idaho and lastly, I was almost to the top of 4th of July Pass in N. Idaho heading West on I 90 when I saw a cougar running like hell crossing the freeway and disappear into the forest on the S. side of of the freeway. The one cougar alongside Lake Koocanusa was a big cat who stood at least 3 ft. tall and 7 to 8 ft. long with its tail, I gave him lots of room when I saw him in front of me.

This won’t happen with the grizzly bears in Washington State.
Will it?
There a few grizzly bears in far extreme NE Wash. state up by Metalline Falls and Sullivan Lake, up by the Canadian border. There is also a small herd of caribou who occasionally stray over from Canada into that area.
The cops fired their weapons to scare off the cat??? Why the hell didn’t they shoot the cat at the crime scene? And, with most crimes we’re told it will take frickin’ WEEKS for the DNA test and these guys did the DNA test in the field???
Same brain fart nice guy we try out on human animals that doesn’t work out so well most of the time. See, FBI, CIA and Washington DC.
Where’s the selfie?
I’d need to check the dates, but I’m thinking it was ten years ago the city dweller Libtards outlawed running cats and bears with dogs. At that point there was zero pressure on these predators and they no longer fear humans. And THAT’S the problem.
When we live up on the Oregon coast my neighbor was going out to drink his morning coffee on the deck, when he opened the blinds there was a big cat laying just outside his door sunning himself.
About 6 months ago in our little corner of AZ, up the road from us, a cougar killed a miniature horse. And last summer, about 20 miles from us a guy was killed on his back porch by a bear. Still, I’d rather take my chances with nature than in any big city.
This was my county. We’ve been living here since Christ was a kid. We live in a pretty populated area. It’s rural, but lots of peeps. Plus we are a stones throw from a big lake and when the water levels down these critters use the shore line like a super highway. These cats, and bears, are way over populated. The wife and I passed a large Cinnamon standing on his hind legs a couple years ago. It was on a busy intersection and it took us both a while to realize that wasn’t your average pedestrian.
Most impressive thing I think I’ve ever seen was footage from a neighbors security cameras of a big ass lion clearing a 12 foot chain link enclosure with a dead Alpaca firmly clenched in it’s jaws.

Just went through Flagstaff, Prescott, back up to 40 and into Cali. Loved it. We’re going back and spending some time poking around there.
I’ve read that carnivorous mammals are 10x stronger than humans pound for pound. I suspect it’s not that much, but they are stronger than humans for sure.
Give them their space unless you are well armed or they invade your space/home.
I will say those Cougars (no not the middle-aged human females) are gorgeous animals.
