Breaking911:

Five members of a fraud ring charged with compromising the internal gift card system of major national retailer, Target Corporation, and defrauding the retailer and its legitimate customers of almost $800,000 have been indicted on wire fraud charges by a federal grand jury in Seattle, announced U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes. Jwffery Mann, 29, of Marysville, Washington, and Joshua Newman, 33, of Kirkland, Washington will appear in U.S. District Court in Seattle at 2:00 today.

A third defendant, Corey Mosey, 30, of Lynnwood, Washington is in Washington state custody on unrelated charges. The two remaining defendants Kennady Weston, 22, and Derrick Quintana, 26, both of Everett, Washington, are being sought by law enforcement.

According to the indictment unsealed today, between May 2017 and December 2017, the ring allegedly stole gift card balances worth more than $785,000, and often sold illegally purchased goods or store gift cards for bitcoin on an internet marketplace. The co-conspirators allegedly used a special algorithm to reverse-engineer and identify unique
bar code numbers of thousands of authentic gift cards sold by Target to legitimate customers.  more here

  1. Can I give some advice to any budding cyber criminals out there?

    1. Never have partners, but if you must, never more than ONE. make sure he doesn’t have any drinking, drug, emotional, or women problems first. Also, never involve wives or girlfriends in your plans.
    2. Operational security is everyone’s business. You are compromising your target because they have a security flaw. Don’t in turn risk prison by not following 100% security yourself, all of the time, everytime, because just one lapse can send you to prison for years.
    3. When you steal money, try to steal a little bit from a lot of people or a single entity that will never miss it. Stealing little Bobby or Suzy’s birthday gift card WILL ALWAYS BE NOTICED and WILL BE followed up on by Bobby and Suzy’s parents and grand parents far out of proportion than the actual loss incurred by them.
    4. Treat your successful heist or theft like a smart day trader will treat the market. Once you have met your goal, get out! Don’t stay in the game until you are cleaned out. Likewise, stop your criminal activity BEFORE you are caught! Even better, stop before anyone notices anything is wrong or is even looking for you.
    5. You must be smarter than the police everyday and everytime, the police have to be smarter than you only ONCE.

Corey Mosey, 30 out in 20 will be 50
Kennady Weston, 22 out in 20 will be 40 given that he’s caught before he redeems more gift cards
Derrick Quintana, 26 out in 20 will be 46, given that he’s caught before he redeems more gift cards

just 1 year offline and / or out of the digital loop while incarcerated in a state prison will set you back nearly a life time as things in this realm are in constant fluidity.

these clowns are destined to be repeat offenders of this low level digital d3rp crime for the rest of their lives because they’re just plain losers in life.

    fascinating

and in the time they’re in jail, we will have created new technology to detect this stupid crime before they even think about doing it. then we arrest before the crime is committed.

tech is a vicious circle of a bitch that criminals will never never win at. hahahaha!
