The New Jersey Assembly’s Law and Public Safety Committee was scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday (postponed for snow) about a bill that reduces the maximum magazine capacity from 15 to 10.
The Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs gave the draft legislation to top firearms experts in the country to determine what guns would fall under the expanded ban.
They discovered that the bill would affect tube-fed, semi-automatic rifles because the magazine cannot be separated from the gun.
Thus, the experts found that at least 43 common rifles would suddenly be considered a prohibited “assault firearm,” such as the .22 caliber Marlin Model 60, Remington Nylon 66 and Winchester 190.

What’s the penalty?
Possession of an “assault firearm” is a second-degree crime in New Jersey. The penalty is up to 10 years in jail and a mandatory minimum sentence of three to five years, with no chance of parole.
Nothing this “Rotund RINO” does surprises me.
Not only can’t you have hollow points in the People’s Democratic Republic of New Jersey, now you can only have 10 rounds at a time? New Jersey, is a great place for a toxic waste site and nothing else.
Will he go along with it? Yes, he will.
Will he regret going along? Yes, he will.
Will he survive his term as gov? That’s not so clear.
He’ll be busy. From Russia state news:

He needs to ask himself, does a gun banning Republican stand a chance of winning an election?
I wouldn’t vote for a rhinoceros anyway. But a gun grabber? In the face of all of the available evidence that gun control does not work. No way.
That’s failing to mention the meaning of violating the Constitution.
Last year I went to Walmart and put a stainless steel Marlin Model 60, .22 rifle on layaway. I had owned three of them in my younger days and loved them as they are very good rifles. Before I went to get it out of layaway, I discovered that Marlin had redesigned the tubular magazine to hold 15 rounds instead of the 17 rounds that it always had before. Their website said it was done to conform to New Jersey’s new about magazine capacity law. I went to Walmart and told them I didn’t want the gun because I am from Texas and don’t give a hoot about New Jersey. Then I called Marlin and told them what idiots they were for bending to New Jersey’s laws. I won’t be buying any of Marlin’s products in the future. They could at least have kept making a Texas edition of the rifle.
I have a Winchester 290, same as the 190 but a little more dolled up. Neat gun it shoots .22 short, .22L and .22LR but it is hardly an assault weapon.
However, it is kind of a scary gun. You need to put your hand near the muzzle to undo the tube rod and pull it out.
Here’s a quick 10 second song about the 10 Coolest Things About New Jersey. Read the comments if you don’t get it, but this is an actual track on an actual album.

Mr. Oaks,
Were any stainless M 60s offered in 17 rd capacity?
If so, you might have some luck at an online sales/auction site.
Or find yourself a nice old M39.
You might also consider a Ruger 10-22. I like the stainless takedown model
@ Hambone: Remington bought Marlin back in 2008. which might explain why. I know it sucks.. I love my lever action .444 Marlin.
P.S.
As I recall Marlin reduced the cap. of the tube-fed .22s in the mid 80s.
I do not recall stainless Marlins from that era.
I am not a fan of the tubular magazines, but the
M 60 has enjoyed a good reputation for accuracy and dependability since the early ’60s.
Mine had a detachable mag, don’t recall the capacity, probably 10 or less.
I have a couple of .222 pistols from back in the day when I used to shoot in long range pistol competitions. Really a loud gun.

Chris Christie can eat my S&W .460xvr.. barrel and bullet first, once the trigger is pulled.
PHUK HIM! PHUK anyone who fiddles about with the 2nd amendment. Life contains a particle of risk. That’s how it goes. You may live long enough or in some very sad cases short enough to die from natural causes. You may slip and fall in the shower or tub thump your knogin and die. You may be hit by a car or fall down the stairs. You might be sitting on a subway car minding your own business when a mob of over zealus sons of Allah come screaming while wheedling knives (or a back pack full of TNT). You may even get shot in a theater or your own home via an invasion. A gun is not going to help me against cancer, a stair case or a car. But by God it will even up the odds of a mob of head hackers, a lone lunatic or any Son(s) of a(n) Bitch(s)who comes into my home uninvited. But what is even more important than all of that- budding tyrants have to take the American people into consideration. I believe that is the one thing keeping Obamby in 2nd gear and not 5th gear.
.180s, I have what amounts to an “arsenal” these days. lol!
.22s are fun guns, I don’t have a Marlin but do have 10/22s and even a Charter Arms AR as in Assault Rifle-7 Explorer.

Four .45’s, Doh! I got that wrong, I should have called you 1.90, not .180s.
Molon labe
How do you like the Charter Arms AR 7? The Henry version looked flimsy to me.
1.90, Contrary to what most internet forums say, mine works good. It’s a simple but effective rifle accurate up to 50 yards, never had a FTF or FTE with it. Definitely not my favorite rifle but it has some endearing qualities, like the cheek weld, it fits me nicely.
I bought it off Carl Kuhn’s estate a few years ago.

Sorry 1.90, Just realized the article I linked to was written before the cops dug into the case.

Hambone, start workin’ the gun shows and gunbroker.com
There are plenty of the older Model 60’s with the 17-round magazines out there. The Model 60/Winchester 190 are good plinkers; every house ought to have 3 or 4.
OOPS.
My remarks above on the Marlin should have been addressed to Hambone.
4 X .45 = 1.8
Yikes.
I regretted selling every gun I ever sold. I once owned a pristine Nylon 66 black-on-black and I sold it for $100.00. I cry myself to sleep thinking about it, sometimes! Oh, you haven’t shot a loud gun until you’ve shot a Kel-Tec PLR-16. It will clean out your snot-locker!
